This will really help when i get my first tube amp next week! Been with axe fx since 09 and really love it. But i want some ompf in my face so ^^ I only have a AKG D5 atm, been using it for growls/vocals. I´ve heard both good and bad things about it when it comes to cab micing. Any experience or are u just a sm57 guy? Thx

Why don’t you use two mic’s to pan? I use a sure sm 57 on one side & a sennheiser e609 on the other side.

You make it all sound so easy. My band is in the process of recording an EP in a home studio. I showed them some of your tutorial videos. Definitely using some of these techniques. Much love from Canada.

Would you say when recording metal guitar, turning down gain is a better idea than having the “rehearsal / room gaing”

very helpful ola, just a question, do you use lo/hi pass filters for all the guitar tracks? or just where you need it?

I agree that getting the best sound before modifying it later is the best, because trying to make a shitty sound better with post eqs and etc is really hard, or impossible.

I like miking near the center without modifying the sound later unless it was clipping.

he said he felt he didnt NEED to use post processing in that track, every track, every song, every day is different and needs different things 🙂 it’s just experience that lets you make those informed decisions
