By Junior Hernandez Finally, I was able to work on this video of CupCake Meet 10 which was held here in Dallas, Texas. Do to very little available time to work on this video I rushed in post so this video is not perfect, example, email address in it is our old one so it wont work. darkimageproductions817@hotmail The event was a first for me and to be honest, it overwhelmed me when I got there. It was so big that I did not know where or how to start. LOL One of the cameras was a Nikon D300s and when you record with a DSLR you really need a tipod which it was the only thing I forgot to bring with me that day. You will notice why I need a tripod in lots of the clips. I still need to learn how to use this camera for video but it is what it is. I hope you enjoy!! Special Thanks to TinoX Beatz & The Progress for the beat! Special Thanks to Tiffany Truong for making this event happen and everything she does it for!

cazillo.com I had way too many requests that I couldn’t ignore last week when I showed you my photos from Red Rock Canyon outside of Las Vegas Nevada. So for all you that requested it…here you go! First, as always, we need to start with a good histogram and well exposed image. The first photo has very little contrast but a very good starting point. There is plenty of data to work with, especially from a RAW file, it just needed to be moved around. The second I thought was a complete goner. Unfortunately it was overexposed, skies almost gone with cloud cover and a histogram pushed way to far to the right. Check out the video to see how I created both of these images…enjoy!

I’m going to make a video about this…Lightroom is a digital asset management application & raw processor. Photoshop is an image manipulation app. Two different apps for two different jobs.

Hi Greg, I have photoshop cs6 and I got a Lightroom 30 day trail along with it. I’m some-what getting the hang of this, but would you say Lightroom is a must for editing photos if they are in the condition that you had? Would you use Photoshop in the same situation?

I doubt it.

Greg, you videos are great! Can you please tell me if there is any way to merge 3 photos (HDR) in Lightroom 4 to create the HDR image WITHOUT having to BUY Photoshop as well????

to each his own, as you saw the original image was perfectly exposed and still needed changes to make it look even half decent.

To me, there are way too many adjustments. I appreciate what can be done with computer tools, but these look severely overprocessed. More work in the camera, and less work in the computer. Makes for lazy photography, imo

Point was to make it very dramatic, hence the large amount of clarity.

Over did the clarity a bit imo. I’d tone it down to 17 and maybe use the brush on the sky.

would anyone know why I might not have a tone curve in my options on the right?
GregoryCazillo

Not a fan…some are ok but most look overprocessed and unnatural.

How do you feel about HDR? HDR vs filters, HDR in camera or in software on computer, etc.
GregoryCazillo
February 2, 2013 at 6:39 pm
It depends…but usually 1/3 of the way into the scene. Most of the time it doesn’t matter since my aperture is around f8 and focal point is at infinity.

don’t know what jerod uses, don’t work with him anymore. Lightroom is a digital asset management tool and raw processor. Photoshop is for heavy editing.

February 2, 2013 at 9:47 pm
Why you and Jared use lightroom? I always use photoshop. Lightroom has more options, is faster, is easier or what?
