how to you get a large depth of field in video mode. Do you increase the aperture? Sorry I am new to dslr

You require an extreme fast lens for best results, ie. aperture < f/1.8. With this kind of lens, and the camera/lens set to f/1.8 or faster, only very small areas of the image are in focus at any one time so it's just a matter of focusing.
