NO idea about canon cameras as I don’t use them…
The S5 is still an superlative camera – the files are among the widest tonal range I’ve seen – great skintone – and you can pull almost 3 stops over. Try that with a Nikon (or probably canon!)

Would you still recommend this camera? Is it better than a canon 40d in terms of low light capability?
Thanks!

I use the D3 for my day-to-day work now – but the S5 still earns its keep – on a really sunny day or when there’s a huge tonal range the S5 RAW files still are the finest out there!
Shame there was never a S6!

I have owned this camera for about 3 years now and It still produces some of the best out of camera Jpegs that I have ever seen from any camera.
I am very much an amateur, but some of my pics are at the Panoramio website, i am user 3464128 for anyone who wants to see how this camera performs with landscapes.
It is a very under-rated camera and I am very glad to have one!
great video too by the way! 🙂

Hi
I’ve been searching for information on the s5 and some users don’t recommend it for landscapes or sports and they say that the strength of this camera is portraits and weddings scenarios… what can you tell me about? great video by the way… seeing it I can tell that IT IS actually an amazing camera for this kind of use
regards!

All depends on what kind of photos you want to take!
I’m a lover of prime – the 105DC is superb – as is the 50mm f1.4

Hi Carlos – I’m glad I can make you happy on two fronts! I can’t believe that such a great sound can come from just two people!
