Focus Basics: Ep 210: Digital Photography One on One

This week Mark goes over the basics of autofocus with a little help from Stunt Pig. Mark covers autofocus modes, the difference between drive modes and auto focus modes, adjusting the diopter and gives a few tips for using manual focus.     Hey, are you familiar with “photo SFX art” (just do a Google search for it…)? On their website you will find a great free video demonstrating the way to make better photos. This helped Daniel to make photos which leave you with a wow-effect whenever you take a look at them. Hopefully it will help you also.

    hi mark, i’m totally with you, i guess whoever has complaints about the fps dint hear you properly.. mark said “it also depends on lens”.. i’m totally with you mark…. keep up the good work… thank you..

    Stop lying about 7D is slow!
    You hadn’t put it into 8fps mode :)

    Hi there, do you know “Photo SFXart Tricks” (do a Google search for it)? There you can watch a smart free video explaining the best way to make awesome pictures. This helped Joe to make pictures that have a jaw-dropping-effect whenever you take a look at them. It might help you as well…

    so mark i have a nikon d5100 , when shooting a moving object i set my camera on continous mode, but what about the AF area mode?

    do i set in on 3D tracking or dynamic area AF ?

    i dont see the difference…

    If you don’t see the need for him to point out it was slower, then you weren’t paying much attention. He was pointing out that different camera setups have different speeds of focus and drive, it’s a lot harder to do that with the cameras you have on hand if you have them all set to the same speed. It’s not his fault that brand fanboys, or overly pedantic viewers get offended or pedantic.

    Mark, how can you embed your photos so clearly in the videos? I tried using final cut but they all appeared blurry even after rendering.
