I was visiting from Oregon, and as part of my career interests, I explored the transit systems of Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston. In each and every one of those cities, except for Baltimore, I had no problems photographing these amazing systems. This incident in Baltimore started with me enroute from the B&O Railroad Museum to Penn Station. I had boarded a light-rail train at the Convention Center, but realized that I needed to be on a “Penn Station” bound train, so I stepped off at Cultural Center Station in order to board the correct train. While waiting for my train, I snapped a photo or two of passing trains, and was immediately inundated with police officers confronting me about my photography. I also had a video camera on hand, so this entire incident, except for the last bit at Penn Station, was recorded. MTA Police finally gave back my farecard and ordered me to “cease and desist,” but continued to surround and bother me until I boarded the next Penn Station train. They followed me to Penn Station and got Amtrak Police …

Mit der täglich wachsenden Zahl an Kameras, sei es nun die Bridge-, DSLR- oder iPhonekamera, die in den Händen vieler Menschen sind und der Plattform Internet wird auch in zunehmendem Maße das Leben in allen seinen Facetten dokumentiert und präsentiert. Dazu gehören auch Kinderfotos. Und darüber möchte ich heute mit Euch diskutieren.
Was für die einen Grund zu Besorgnis ist, kann für die anderen Teil des Lebens und nicht mehr wegzudenken sein. Bisher sind mir, was das Thema Kinderfotos im Netz betrifft, alle möglichen Argumente und Haltungen begegnet. Denn jemand, der selbstverständlich Fotos seiner Kinder oder jüngeren Geschwister ins Netz stellt, sagt mit seinem Handeln, dass er dies unbedenklich findet.
Das Thema ist groß. Und es ist komplex. Hier gibt es keine einfachen Antworten, denn was für den einen tragbar ist, bringt den anderen um den Verstand. Kinder sind unser Heiligtum und somit ist die Diskussion um das Thema (zu Recht) emotional und wichtig. Dementsprechend sind Positionen wie “Kinderfotos im Internet gehören verboten!” genauso schwachsinnig wie ”Eltern, die ihre Kinderfotos nicht ins Netz stellen, sind doch nur Angsthasen”. Jeder kann und wird das nur für sich selbst entscheiden.
Doch gerade weil es hier emotional zugeht, muss man aufpassen, dass man seine eigene Meinung nicht für allgemeingültig hält. Deshalb weigere ich mich auch, hier “klipp und klar” Position zu beziehen und das, was ich denke, großmäulig herauszupfeifen. Und mein Anliegen heute ist dementsprechend gar nicht, herauszufinden, was richtig oder falsch, dumm oder angemessen ist, sondern ich möchte hinhören. Und zwar bei Euch.
UPDATE: Following the provision of Beta raw support from Adobe, we’ve updated our previously published studio samples from the Samsung NX200 to include raw files. Also, we’ve recently got our hands on Samsung’s new NX 60mm F2.8 Macro ED OIS SSA and we’ve taken the opportunity to replace our existing samples with a completely new set, taken on the newer lens. In future, the 60mm macro will become our standard studio lens for the Samsung NX system.

Containing animated statues, A moving Sun and Moon with a Zodiacal Ring, and a Calender. The clock is located in the Old Time Square in Prague. Celebrating it’s 600th Anniversary {October 9th, 2010} An amazing, and I truly mean amazing 3D Mapping was shown. -5:04- The Symbol of Bohemia and the Czech lands – The two tailed Lion? bearing the crown of Charles the 4th as the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor – uplifting Prague to be the jewel that it is today. -6:40- after much turmoil. The old town was the place where 27 Czech protestant leaders were executed in 1621 by the Catholic Ferdinand II. -7:23- The 12 apostles that come out every hour, 24/7 in all seasons. -8:15- Serious damage in 1945 from Prague Uprising by Germans.

Columbus, Ohio-based photographer Nick Fancher shoots for JackThreads, which means manic spurts of product, apparel and shoe photos. To that end he shoots guerilla-style, scrounging multiple locations and setups on the quick.
Which is no problem, as he travels light with RadioPoppers and speedlights, preferring to work without modifiers. This means he can light at modest ranges and easily match or overpower the sun as needed.
Check out the vid above, in which we follow Nick through a typical multi-product day of shooting. Neat stuff — I like the multi hard-light look. He tends to crank the flashes to 105mm for extra punch, which also restricts the beam for a cool fall-off.
And if the name sounds familiar, Nick was featured a little ways back for his Mad Men-themed engagement shoot. If you haven’t seen that, it’s worth a look.

At the same time, they are often high-technological objects, that fulfil complex functions. They form a large contrast with the extreme esthetical images that they produce.
The overview of machines by Kris Verdonck addresses the field of tension between man and machine in today’s society. What relationship can/must/do people want to enter into with technology? How difficult is the balancing act between human control and submission to machines?

The garden installation EXOTE shapes a spatial environment for the characters of Kris Verdonck’s Kafka-esque world. This end-of-the-world landscape houses a selection of the most invasive alien species (plants and animals) in Belgium, which constitute a genuine threat to biodiversity, the economy and public health. Due to man’s interference, the species have been brought out of their natural environment and now form a threat for other, native species. EXOTE stands as a metaphor for a world in which man is increasingly forced to protect himself from an environment that he himself has created.
As certain non-native species in the installation present a potential threat to biodiversity in Hasselt and the surrounding areas, visitors need to be aware that even the smallest seed or animal cannot be allowed to escape. The evolution of the garden, the protective clothing and the safety provisions involved in the installation form an essential and necessary part of the artwork.
