  • Hypershpere Computer Animation

    Computer animated movie of a rotating four-dimensional hypersphere, perspectively projected into 3D as stereoscopic left and right images, to be viewed cross-eyed. Dots were scattered randomly on the surface of the 4D hypersphere. Animation was performed at Bell Labs in the mid 1960s.

    Following our review of the Nokia 808 PureView, Damien Dinning – Lead program manager of Imaging Experience at Nokia – wrote to us responding to some of the issues that we raised and explaining why those decisions were made in the phone’s development. In addition to featuring the largest, highest-pixel-count sensor of any smartphone, the 808 also offers the most advanced camera features – including manually selectable ISO sensitivity from 50-1600, exposure bracketing and five white balance presets.   • Ewan Mathers – Photography

    Ewan is a full time commercial photographer with a style that reflects his eye for detail. Several images in this collection are based around the songs of the artist Prince. ‘As a long time fan I thought that the titles and meanings of his songs would give me the perfect place to begin. I wanted to create a calendar of twelve distinct images all shot in my studio. It took several months of organisation and a few false starts but in the end I was very pleased with the results.   • Starlight Express 2nd US Tour 2004 Race 2

    This is Race 2, from the Starlight Express 2nd US Tour, 2004. The film portion of the race was directed by Julian Napier and also used in the 1st and 2nd UK tours as well as the New Zealand Arena Tour. The double/blurry image in the film that you see here is because the films were presented in stereoscopic 3-D, designed to be viewed with polarized 3D glasses which caused the images to push out beyond the confines of the flat screen and into the audiences faces.
