What you will find though is a lot of second hand equipment My second hand gear consists of NIkon D700 20mm f2.8 28-75mm f2.8 105mm f2.8 85mm f1.4 70-200mm vr1 2 refurbished sb900 The new equipment i have bought has been 1 nikon sb800 and 1 sb900 50mm f1.4 10.5mm fisheye fuji s5pro nikon d300 (not in video) Canon 550d (not in video) but used to record the video Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 (also not in video) used for recording the video You will notice that none of my lenses are slower than f2.8 and yet a lot of them are very cheap lenses. Photography can be as expensive as you want it to be but if you hunt around you can get a lot of money off of quality equipment. The 70-200 buying that second hand saved me nearly £600! I usually get my second hand equipment from people that i meet or via adverts on free advert sites such as gumtree. but i always inspect the equipment before i hand over the money.

    This is a traffic purple welded metal sculpture in front of the Castle on Cherry Street installed for the 2009 Art Prize competition.

    John Clement has been creating sculpture for fourteen years. While he worked towards a MFA at the School of Visual Arts, he did not complete it preferring instead to apprentice to Mark Di Suevero which lead to his love of steel. From 1994 to the present, John’s curvilinear steel sculptures have appeared in exhibitions in California, New York, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Kanas, Connecticut , Canada, China and Japan. He has permanently installed sculptures in Vancouver, Staten Island, San Francisco, Houston, Macon Georgia, Des Moines, Delray Beach and Palm Springs. Additionally, John has participated in the Vancouver Sculpture Biennale in Canada, The Klenova Sculpture Symposium in Prague,The Czech Republic, the Ubu Sculpture Biennale in Japan, and the Zhengzhou International Sculpture Exhibition in China. Solo exhibitions of his works have been hosted by Buschlen Mowatt Fine Art, Tricia Collins Contemporary Art and Gallery Sonja Roesch.
    Artist statement: My sculptures are three- dimensional realizations of imaginary forms. I rely heavily on the artistic process, allowing the work to evolve and mature, eventually become self- referential. Although many of my works are site -specific their form does not directly rely on the surrounding architecture or landscape. The clearly defined positive and negative space of the work, combined with its scale, creates a new framework in which the surroundings can be experienced through the sculpture.

    Curvilinear forms of coiled and welded steel, tangential and intersecting, best characterize my work. I choose to work with steel and approach the material first as an artist and second as a craftsman. The success of my work does not rely upon gimmicks or trickery in the materials, but on the implied movement and strength of form of each individual piece. The bright, primary colors used to paint the work serves to bring the form of the work to the forefront, enhancing the sense of the work leaping fro

  • Working with 32-bit HDR Images in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1

    The first official Update for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 has been released! This free update fixes some irritating bugs and adds support for raw files for a host of new digital camera bodies but what excites me the most about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1 are the understated words “now able to work with 32-bit HDR files.” In geek-speak, this means that Photoshop Lightroom can now work with 32-bit Tif HDR images. In plain English, this means that we can now polish up our high-bit High Dynamic Range images using all of Lightroom’s powerful and efficient Develop Module tools. As a professional landscape photographer I have dabbled with exposure blending techniques for many years. Over the years, I have tried to master at least four different HDR image compositing programs but none of them ever felt fluid for me. I still need an additional program to merge my bracketed exposures together but now I can 99% of the work with tools that I already know and love. Thanks to this new feature in Lightroom 4.1 I can now go from Photoshop Lightroom 4.1 to Photoshop CS6’s to create my 32-bit High Dynamic Range Tif file and back to Lightroom for further image refinement in almost no time. I am so pleased with this new routine that I made this video tutorial just to demonstrate this techniques speed and simplicity.   • Virtual 3D Tactile Touch – NTT COMWARE : DigInfo

    DigInfo – movie.diginfo.tv NTT COMWARE has developed a system which not only creates the illusion of depth visually, but also the tactile feeling to go with it, allowing people to shake hands or hold solid objects from across the globe. The system combines a stereoscopic camera setup with a haptic glove connected to a 3D display. When the user sees the object in front of them and touches it, the hand is manipulated by various components in the glove to make it feel as if it is touching a solid object. As the process is happening in real time, when the object, such as a hand, moves, the user can also feel the movement. Possible applications include video conferencing, education or making rare museum exhibits touchable.

  • Incomplete: Weekly Photography Challenge

    So this week our challenge to you is to take and share an image with the them of ‘incomplete’.

    Once you’ve taken and selected the ‘Incomplete’ image that you’d like to share – upload it to your favourite photo sharing site or blog and either share a link to it or – embed them in the comments using our embed tool to do so.

    If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSINCOMPLETE to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
