    The Museum of Fine Arts of Seville or Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla is a museum in Seville, Spain, a collection of mainly Spanish visual arts from medieval period to the early 20th century, including a choice selection of works from the so-called Golden Age of Sevillian painting during the 17th century, such as Murillo, Zurbarán, Francisco de Herrera the younger, and Valdés Leal.
    The museum was founded in 1839, after the desamortizacion or shuttering of religious monasteries and convents, collecting works from across the city and region. Originally, the site held the convent of the Order of the Merced Calzada de la Asunción, founded by St. Peter Nolasco during the reign of King Ferdinand III of Castile. Extensive remodeling in the early 17th century was led by the architect Juan de Oviedo y de la Bandera.

  • Lost in Photoshop: another old photo restoration part i

    I have a tip about straightening the rotation of images — particularly scanned images. the old photo is younger than 1901 and older than 1930, I believe. Given the image size (approximately 2 1/4 x 3 1/2) I would guess that it was taken by a Kodak Brownie (probably ‘2’) camera. The original image had faded quite a bit. I attempt to use various techniques to recover the image, including: level adjustments, use of high pass filter, use of surface blur filter, use of “split masks”, and attempting to reconstitute “depth” using linear burn (non-destructively) in an “overlay” [not the mode] layer.

    Schon immer faszinierten mich Sommersprossen. Woher diese Faszination kommt, kann ich gar nicht genau sagen. Sie machen ein Gesicht für mich einfach zu etwas Besonderem und ich habe Menschen mit Sommersprossen wahnsinnig gerne vor meiner Linse – je mehr davon, desto besser!

    Ich finde es sehr schade, wenn sie von einigen Modellen lieber überschminkt oder vom Fotografen im Nachhinein wegretuschiert werden, denn ich sehe sie nicht als Makel – im Gegenteil. In den letzten Jahren sammelten sich so sehr viele Sommersprossen-Portraits, hier nur einige aus meinem Portfolio.

    Am liebsten fotografiere ich Modelle mit Sommersprossen auf ganz natürliche Art, ohne viel Make-up. Für mich passt dies oft am besten zum Typ der Modelle. Ab und an experimentiere ich aber auch mit mehr Make-up und bin erstaunt, wie schön die Sommersprossen auch dort herausstechen und das Gesicht so außergewöhnlich machen.
