Als ich Dennis Tölle und Florian Wagenknecht vor fast zwei Jahren interviewt habe, waren beide noch Studenten der Rechtswissenschaften und begannen gerade mit ihrem Blog Recht am Bild. Mittlerweile ist der Blog zu einem der bekanntesten Portale rund um das Foto– und Urheberrecht angewachsen.
Zudem haben die beiden ihr erstes Buch „Recht am Bild. Wegweiser zum Fotorecht für Fotografen und Kreative“ herausgebracht. Auf 306 Seiten findet man hier sehr übersichtlich alles Wichtige rund um das Thema Recht am Bild.
Darf ich mich in Deutschland einfach so Fotograf nennen? Darf ich Polizeibeamte im Dienst fotografieren? Und was muss auf jeden Fall in einem Modellvertrag festgehalten sein? Solche und viele andere Fragen werden im Buch umfassend beantwortet.
Wenn ich im Internet nach solchen Antworten suche, stehe ich schnell vor einem Berg aus Paragraphen, die mich etwas ohnmächtig zurücklassen. Oft sind die Informationen auch sehr widersprüchlich. Tölle und Wagenknecht hingegen erklären die jeweiligen Punkte so ausführlich und oft auch an Hand von Beispielen, dass ich auch ohne Jurakenntnisse meine Antworten schnell und einfach finde.
Insgesamt enthält das Buch 16 Themenschwerpunkte. Besonders ausführlich werden die Rechte bei der Personen- und Sachfotografie, die Rechte des Fotografen als Urheber und die Bildnutzung in der digitalen Welt behandelt. Aber auch kleinere Bereiche finden ihren Platz. So gibt es Kapitel über die Besonderheiten der Aktfotografie oder der Fotografie in der Selbstständigkeit.
Selbst wenn man gerade keine konkrete Frage hat, ist das Buch empfehlenswert. Allein schon die Geschichte zur Entstehung des Rechts am Bild in Deutschland liest sich amüsant und hin und wieder stößt man auf Dinge, die einem so nie in den Sinn gekommen wären. So habe ich mir zum Beispiel vorher noch nie Gedanken darüber gemacht, ob ich fremde Haustiere ohne Erlaubnis fotografieren und die Bilder veröffentlichen darf.

Embodying a painting of home in a different fashion, Jonathan Anderson’s Construction series reveals a place by what appears to be its withdrawal. His images of framed-in homes are delineated by their absence through his selective rendering of a background. By allowing the natural wood of the support panel to represent the foundation and studs of constructed homes, he seductively renders the landscape surrounding the construction site with paint. This change in the physical surface of his works, coupled with his beautifully painted illusion, challenges viewers to question the location as well as the representation of the location.
“I think about painting in construction terms. Paintings are buildings; they are structures designed to provide containment for ways of seeing and thinking, ways of positioning and orienting oneself in relation to the world. And I undertake art-making in these terms: as a structure-maker, transforming oily mud and fibers into visual spaces for the housing of stories, the posing of questions, and the visual organizing of concepts. It’s not only that these paintings are often images of buildings; they are themselves ‘buildings.’
“Yet, there is an impasse that occurs in these (and, ultimately, all) representations. The curious thing about a painted image is that it offers visual space upon a flat surface—it simultaneously opens out onto things-in-the-world other than itself, while at the same time persistently remaining its own distinct thing-in-the-world (a flat painted surface hanging on this wall)…
“I have been working through this idea in an ongoing series entitled Constructions…
“This series includes paintings of homes under construction, in which I’m thinking about the painting itself as a domestic construction site, conflating the construction of an image with that of a home.
“What appears to be the wooden structural framing of a house under construction is, in fact, the bare wooden panel that the painting is constructed on: the image is ‘negatively’ painted such that the wooden panel (the object) is conflated with the wooden studs and beams of the half-built home (the image).
“I’m interested in asserting both sides of this dynamic as clearly as possible in an attempt to understand the profound mystery of what George Steiner calls the “covenant between word and object, the presumption that being is, to a workable degree, ‘sayable.’” – Jonathan Anderson.

Jonathan Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Art at Biola University. He has a Master of Fine Arts Degree from California State University, Long Beach, where he received the Distinguished Achievement Award in Drawing & Painting. He currently lives and works in Long Beach, California.

Masters of Nature Photography – Frans Lanting, Thomas Mangelsen & Art Wolfe
This weekend there was a reunion of todays most influential nature photographers: Frans Lanting, Thomas D. Mangelsen & Art Wolfe in San Francisco, California. The reason for their convergence here in San Francisco was the first, and hopefully first of many, Masters of Nature Photography lectures. Back in October at PhotoPlus Expo in New York City they gave a shorter presentation together and out of that grew this full weekend event.
In short Art had a great presentation on finding inspiration, Frans masterfully discussed employing visual storytelling and Thomas shared lessons learned from his pursuit of a singular high impact photo. The event also included a Q&A session with Frans, Thomas and Art, along with ample breaks and receptions to meet and talk with each of them. The second day included discussions on technical aspects of their photography and a review of participants images.
If you’re like me you’ve long looked at the work of these photographers with great admiration, so the opportunity to meet and talk to them was quite special. While the admission price might be pricy for some the quality of the presentations, events and the overall opportunity to meet three photography legends in one swoop could make it well worth it. Unfortunately no future dates have been announced just yet, although I’m sure this event will undoubtedly find its way to other cities. This is the review for the battery grip for the D3100 off eBay. One additional thing I want to mention is the finish of the grip is similar to the body of the D3100 (not exact but close).
