Walking in a Winter Wonderland – 30 Images of Winter Photography to Motivate You

20 Dec

If you live in the norther hemisphere like I do you may have been buried by the white stuff already. Here in Alberta we’ve had almost as much snow in the last 30 days as we did all last winter, and it’s still coming! Yesterday Mother Nature decided to play games with us and rain, giving us skating ponds for roads and sidewalks. Thanks!!

But, this season can also make for some stunning winter scenes, if you can motivate yourself to get out of your nice warm house and go do some photography. The light is great this time of year because of the low angle on the horizon, so take advantage of it! Get up early and photograph the hoarfrost, if it occurs in your neck of the woods, it makes for breathtaking images that make our southern counterparts want to come visit!

For you southern hemisphere dwellers, enjoy these image, and do come visit us up north any time you have a desire to photograph in the snow!

Here’s a few articles on winter photography to help you get started:

Alice in Wonderland – 3D 1920x1080p

3D HIGH DEFINITION — RED-CYAN Glasses
Video Rating: 5 / 5

IMPORTANT: Try adjusting the hue/tint on your TV, monitor or player so that the image comes through at the proper color. Some new movies use red & cyan glasses, in these cases adjusting the hue/tint will make the image pop. Simply put on the glasses & adjust the hue/tint until the image becomes 3D. In this video I show you how to make 3D red & blue glasses for viewing 3D movies, video games and pictures with common household items. These glasses don’t require a special 3D tv or player and will work with all old 3D movies in the blue & red format, like Jaws 3D, Friday the 13th 3D as well as new 3D movies that are presented in the anaglyph 3D format, like Coraline. I decided to make these glasses when I couldn’t find any red blue anaglyph glasses to view some old 3D horror movies that I came into possession of. While not the ideal solution they did provide the gimmick 3D effect I was looking for. The trick to making these glasses work is to apply a clean thin layer of the sharpie ink to the cellophane so the image isn’t overly distorted. It can also help to apply the ink to both sides of the cellophane so it’s dark enough to filter out the red and blue color to each eye. You can also try adjusting the hue or color saturation on your TV so it comes through at the proper color & intensity. Movies designed for red and cyan glasses will require a hue/tint adjustment. Simply put on the glasses & adjust the hue/tint until the image pops. Good luck, thanks for watching & please

Wonderland – Grand Teton National Park

22 Feb

As long as there are trees to walk under I will forever enjoy a harmony with nature.

Back in 2007 a morning walk along the shore of Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park yielded stellar views of Mount Moran, but it was my brief moments amongst the trees as I returned to the trailhead that grabbed my eye most. Wildflowers, vibrant green grass and dappled light filtering through the tree canopy created an infinite space to let my mind and body wander. While there were infinite elements of the scene before me to grab my eye it was the vastness of the forest that captured my imagination most and inspired my photo “Wonderland”.
