While we don’t all celebrate all of the celebrations, it’s Christmas time this coming week, so we’d like to see how you celebrate or don’t celebrate it.

Christmas can mean many different things to different people, and photographs can tell all of those different stories. We would love to see how you tell your Christmas story through photographs.

If you have some downtime over Christmas, make sure you revisit our weekly challenge from this year and try out the ones you missed, and remember, there’s a couple of days left on our Christmas ‘under $ 10’ sale if you’re interested!

We’ve done ‘Landscape’ before now, but after Darren posted this over on our Facebook page, and with the number of awesome replies, I thought it might be a nice time to see what landscape photographs you’re taking, around where you live, in 2020.

Make sure you tag your photograph #dPSLandscape2020 if you post on social media

If you haven’t had a look at the images that jumped out at us from our November Challenges, take a look over here, and see all of the previous challenges HERE.

We want to see your ‘landscape’ and for some, that might be the confines of your house or your local area, you can interpret the theme to suit your environment, or you can wander out into a forest – take a moment, get outside and make your landscape photograph.

Weekly Photography Challenge – Down

We did ‘Up’ a few weeks back… It made me think about how SO many of us walk from place to place looking down at devices (I’m not going to start in on the whole devices thing, don’t worry!) but it did make me think about what we miss by not looking at what we’re walking over, details or cracks in the pavement, etc. It can take some extra work to make ‘Down’ look good, and so with that gauntlet thrown down, let’s see what you’ve got… (Side note, if you fly a drone, this week is a good time to share your aerial photographs!)

Make sure you tag your photograph #dPSDown wherever you post it!

SO ‘down‘ from your camera or your drone or wherever you like, just has to be ‘down’ – and yes, bonus points for alternate interpretations of ‘down’ – Just make sure you tag your photo #dPSDown wherever you post it! Weekly Photography Challenge – Coffee

Right then! This is a little self-indulgent, but, I like to photograph my coffee (not even kidding!) and I thought it might be fun to see how others around the world take their coffee, so let’s try it – #dPSCoffee is the theme! You have to make a new photograph, none of that plucking one from the archives – head out and grab a coffee, trek to the kitchen, whatever you prefer! Will you light it, place it in the morning sun? What will it be!

Photography & Coffee seem to go together pretty well, so I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week!

I spotted a fun theme on the Tamron Australia Facebook page and we’re going to play along because it’s a fun looking theme!! “Dark & Moody” and it can be interpreted in so many different ways! Tag your photos #dPSDarkNMoody

We had darkness a little while back, focussing (boom boom) on shadows, but this theme is more to do with a dark and moody scene, a dark cloudy sky, a gritty lane, a scene lit with moody light – open to interpretation! Make sure you tag your photographs with #dPSDarkNMoody and we’ll feature a selection of images from the month on our blog!

Very simply – this week’s dPS Weekly Challenge Theme is ‘Grey’ and that can be a sky or a scene or anything that you want to find and photograph, creatively, that is grey or mostly grey! My example is the work table I was using at a recent (pre-covid) food shoot.

Weekly Photography Challenge – bicycle

I guess you could say we’re being very specific, but not very specific this week! ‘Bicycle‘ is our #dPSWeeklyChallenge theme! The reason being is that I managed to get my old bike going today and got out of the house to whip around the neighbourhood. Riding in the sun made me think of some amazing cycling photos I’ve seen over the years, and thought it’d be fun to see what we can come up with! Your entry can be a photograph of your bike, of a street with bicycles, a race, whatever you would like as long as the main subject includes a bicycle of some description, perhaps you could try your hand at product photography and photograph a part of your bike? So many options! #dPSBicycle

You could make it an abstract, like my photograph above (oddly, from a series I call ‘stuff stuck in stuff) or it could be from an organized ride, like the photograph below.
