  • A Collection of Spring Flower Photos to Brighten your Weekend

If you live in the northern part of the world hopefully you will start to see some signs of spring soon. I know where I live we still have some of the yucky cold white stuff but I got flowers for my birthday and they brightened my week, so I was inspired to do a collection of them to brighten yours!

Even if you’re in the southern half of the world you can still enjoy pretty flowers and know they’ll be back soon. Can’t you just smell them?

    Enjoy!

  • Thunderbolt Racing Kayak and Ice in Early Spring Paddling

I am reviewing my old forgotten paddling video clips and posting them to my YouTube channel. Here is one from March of 2007. First paddling that season with Thunderbolt-X kayak on Beaver Pond in Arapaho Bend Natural Area. I was just playing in a small area of free water and pushing the kayak through a soft ice.

I bought Thunderbolt designed and built by Doug Bushnell from West Side Boat Shop in December of 2006. You can find a lot of pictures of Tbolt, trip and race reports in this blog and in Fitness Paddling.

  • Nokia 808 pureview sample – Glimpses of a Finnish Spring 30 FPS!

www.mhnet.in A lucky YouTube user got his hands on a Nokia 808 PureView and to our delight focused on its camcorder abilities instead of its imaging skills. He shot a series of video clips at different scene modes with the Nokia 808 PureView and a tripod, and patched them into one clip using the Sony Vegas editing software. In his lengthy notes about the video on YouTube he explains that he mainly used the phone’s automatic scene mode, but found that you can’t focus far away or to infinity on it. He also used the macro mode for shooting close up scenes. Update: The previous video was accidentally rendered at 25fps. The author has now re-uploaded it at the correct 30fps. Below we have the new video. At certain points of the video you’ll see the continuous autofocus in action but the creator of the video also used touch focus to switch between close up elements and those further away from the lens. We also see the smooth zoom of the PureView in action. Keep in mind that this could be an elaborate trick on the video-maker’s part. We found the depth of field is unbelievably shallow for a mobile phone and the auto focus on the video reminiscent of some the recent Nikon DSLRs. Still it’s a nice effort even if it turns out fake.

This spring, the Wenatchee Kendama Team members were able to get together to do some filming. Some of us were away at college while some of us were just plain busy but during all of that, kendama brought us together for some good times. We tried to get as many people in as possible and not focus as much on the difficulty of the tricks. So check it out and keep spreading the kendama love!
