Handle RAR files with the Freeware RarZilla Free Unrar.

If you run Windows and need a utility to just process RAR files and nothing else, German developer Philipp Winterberg has created RarZilla Free Unrar. The software supports drag-and-drop unrar, and also integrates with Windows Explorer so you can double-click a RAR file to process it.

Password-protected RAR files are supported, and features include creating a new folder for extracted files and changing the interface language – German, Spanish, Greek, Russian, and others are available. Zip and Unzip Software – Drag and Drop Archive Extractions Via ExtractNow

ExtractNow supports drag-and-drop archive extraction, and it can monitor folders for new archives and automatically extract them.

ExtractNow is a freeware archive extraction tool for Windows. By dragging archives from Explorer, you can extract multiple files simultaneously, including .arj, .cab, .lzh, .rar, and .zip file types. Resulting files are placed in the same directory as the archives, or you can choose a default directory.

Options and features include keeping the window on top (useful if you plan on doing a LOT of downloading and archive extraction), performing activities after archive extractions such as removing the original archive files or moving them to a “Processed” folder, and monitoring folders for archives and automatically extracting them. You can add right-click context menu extensions to Explorer to queue or extract files, if desired….

DNSDataView is a freeware DNS lookup tool for Windows, allowing you to filter by DNS record type.

DNSDataView is a GUI alternative to the DOS command nslookup in Windows, and allows you to look up records for multiple domains simultaneously. You can choose your own DNS server to query, and results can be filtered by record type, so if, for example, you want to examine SPF Records, you can filter for the TXT / TEXT record type.

Results may be sorted by domain, record type, host name, IP address, and additional data (“More Data”). As with other NirSoft products, data can be exported to text, CSV, XML, and HTML formats; you can also create HTML reports. Translations to Chinese, French, German, and other languages are available….

Miscellaneous Software – Freeware Windows Timer with Configurable Alert Sound

Orzeszek Timer is a freeware Windows timer that can notify you with a configurable sound, flash in the Taskbar, or pop-up.

Do you need to run to the store in half an hour and pick up groceries? Perhaps a television show you want to watch is coming up in two hours and you want to view it live instead of via TiVo? Or maybe you want to set a self-imposed time limit of viewing Facebook pages so you can get some “real” work done?

Orzeszek Timer is a freeware countdown timer for Windows. Just click on the application and enter a time or number of days in a variety of formats, then press Enter (as the documentation says, just try a format and see if it works). When the timer reaches zero you can be notified via a popup, alarm, or flash in the Windows Taskbar. Three sounds are included, or if you want your own alarm sound just copy a .WAV file to the application’s “Sounds” folder and restart it….
