Deep space digital astrophotography – astro image slide show – Space in motion

30 Aug

Video slide show of my best astrophotos taken in my observatory called Eifelsternwarte located in Germany. Planetary and deep space sky objects captured by a Canon eos 20Da and a Takahashi and Celestron 8 and a 7″ Intes Micro Maksutov telescope. Images of nebulae, galaxies, sun, moon, planets and equipment are shown.

Episode 24 of my photography series discusses and demonstrates infrared photography; this is part 2 of 2, which is a quick Photoshop tutorial on how to post-process such images. You’ll also want to check out my blog – binarygraphite.blogspot.com – as it’s supplemented with additional information and links to sites describing this topic in detail. Microsoft Excel 2010 – Show Trends Inside a Cell via Sparklines

10 Aug

Display miniature graphs, sparklines, showing trends in a series of data in an Excel 2010 worksheet.

While it is relatively easy to place multiple graphs inside a Microsoft Excel 2010 worksheet, adding too many may make your document seem unwieldy. The same could be said for a group of students’ grades (see the below screenshot), sales figures from your sales team, etc.

With the use of “Sparklines” you can add smaller miniature graphs for each row of data illustrating trends for each row:…

Microsoft Outlook 2010 – Show Total Number of Items in a Folder Instead

10 Aug

Instead of just showing the number of unread items inside a folder in Outlook 2010, show the total item count.

In Microsoft Outlook 2010, the Navigation Pane shows the Inbox underneath “Favorites” and then as another link below in the full folder list. The “Favorites” link shows the total number of items in the Inbox, while the link in the folder list shows only the count of new (unread) items.

By default, Outlook 2010 displays the number of new items next to folders. If you would rather show the total number of items in a particular folder instead, do the following quick tweak:…

Microsoft Outlook 2010 – Show Week Numbers in the Calendar

06 Aug

Add week numbers when viewing Outlook 2010 calendars to calculate meeting dates that must occur every 3 or 4 weeks instead of monthly.

It might prove useful when viewing calendars in Microsoft Outlook 2010 to show week numbers. Perhaps there is an ongoing project where participants convene for a status review every three weeks, or you might have a regular lunch networking group that meets every four weeks or so instead of monthly.

Microsoft Publisher 2010 – Hide Recent Publications List or Show More

02 May

For privacy, configure Publisher 2010 not to show the list of your recent publications. Or, show more of them.

By default, Microsoft Publisher 2010 displays a list of your recent publications when selecting “Recent” from the Backstage View. This lets you quickly access publications that you have previously edited, especially useful if you save documents on a wide array of folders and/or network locations.

If you find this feature useful and work on a large number of publications, you may wish Publisher 2010 to show more recent documents. On the other hand, if you are concerned about privacy you may wish Publisher 2010 to not show this information. To make either configuration change:…
