UPDATE: Following the provision of Beta raw support from Adobe, we’ve updated our previously published studio samples from the Samsung NX200 to include raw files. Also, we’ve recently got our hands on Samsung’s new NX 60mm F2.8 Macro ED OIS SSA and we’ve taken the opportunity to replace our existing samples with a completely new set, taken on the newer lens. In future, the 60mm macro will become our standard studio lens for the Samsung NX system.

Samsung has announced the MV800, a 16MP compact camera with an innovative hinged LCD screen that allows you to take self-portraits with ease, as well as prop the camera up at angles which allow easy tabletop photography. We’ve had an MV800 in the office for a few days now – just long enough to prepare a brief hands-on first look.

Samsung has announced the NX200 rangefinder-style 20.3MP mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera. The latest in the NX series features a sleek new metal body wrapped around the latest APS-C CMOS sensor from the Korean manufacturer. It can shoot at 7 frames per second and capture 1080p30 HD video.

Just Posted: Our Samsung NX200 hands-on preview. We’ve been using a pre-production NX200 with a series of NX lenses over the past few days and have put together a hands-on preview with image samples gallery. This provides an opportunity to see some of the output from the camera’s new 20.3MP sensor and also gives an insight into how Samsung’s latest NX body behaves.

Samsung has published the second in a series of articles explaining the development of lenses for its NX mirrorless camera system. The article features video and interviews with a range of the people involved in the planning, design and development of lenses (and various aspects of the NX system). Also included in the article is an image of what appear to be design studies for the NX system – including some retro/futurist, seemingly Hasselblad-inspired mockups. Samsung has released firmware updates for its NX10 and NX100 interchangeable lens cameras. The latest firmware for both cameras improves auto-focusing while recording movies and when shooting in low contrast and low light conditions. The firmware also adds Panorama Shot to the available scene modes and an ‘i-Function setting help’ guide in the menu. In addition, image stabilization (OIS) can now be enabled from the menu for i-Fn lenses that have no OIS switch. The updates are available for immediate download from Samsung’s website.

Samsung has announced the ST93 compact camera. The 16MP CCD-based camera offers a 5x optical zoom lens starting at a useful 26mm equivalent. Its features include 720p HD video recording, a Panorama mode, the company’s latest Smart filters and Magic Frame templates. Further specifications are not currently available.

Pre-CES 2011: Samsung has released the WB700 ultra-compact with 18x optical zoom. The camera offers an equivalent zoom range of 24-432mm, optical image stabilization, RAW format shooting, P/A/S/M shooting modes and Smart Filters. It can also shoot 720p HD movies in H.264 format and offers HD output. It will be available from April 2011 at a retail price of 9.99 in the US market and £249.99 in the UK.

Pre-CES 2011: Samsung has announced the NX11 large-sensor mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. The update to its existing NX10 model features support for its i-Function feature, introduced with the NX100. The camera will come bundled with an updated version of the company’s 18-55mm kit lens, now featuring an i-Fn button. The company also says it has updated the camera’s grip.
