The Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II offers some impressive video capture capabilities including the option to record in 4K. And like the RX100 IV, the RX10 II can capture slow motion video at 240, 480 or 960fps, the latter of which gives the equivalent of 40x super slow motion. Read more

Fully stacked: Hands-on with Sony’s RX100 IV and RX10 II

Sony has released updates to its popular RX-series compact cameras, leaving the externals pretty much unchanged, but with a major update to their sensors. Both the RX100 IV and RX10 II feature a newly-developed 1inch 20MP stacked CMOS sensor, which allows them to capture 4K video and a whole lot more besides. Some camera makers are content to put new chrome and tail fins on last year’s model. Not Sony. They believe in pushing the envelope, and with the just shipping RX-10 they have created a new camera that blends characteristics of several previous categories and models, yet which manages to forge new territory. But how successful have they really been with the RX10 and can it justify its price?

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 Real-world Samples

The Sony RX10 is a 20MP zoom compact camera with a 1 inch sensor and a 28-300mm (equivalent) constant-aperture F2.8 lens. We were impressed by its features and handling when we used it recently, and this week we’ve been using a production-quality sample, in an effort to get a feel for what it can do. Sony introduces large-sensor ‘high-zoom’ Cyber-shot RX10

Sony has announced an addition to its RX-series of premium fixed-lens cameras, the Cyber-shot DSC-RX10. With the same 1″ sensor as the RX100 II, the RX10 offers a Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* 24-200mm equivalent zoom lens with an F2.8 constant maximum aperture. It uses a Bionz X image processor with offers improvements in resolution, noise reduction, and diffraction reduction. Other features include a tilting 3-inch LCD, OLED electronic viewfinder, Wi-Fi with NFC, and 60p video recording. Click through for more details.

Very big and very fast: Sony Cyber-shot RX10 first-impressions review

Sony’s new Cyber-shot RX10 marries the 20MP 1-inch BSI-CMOS sensor from the RX100 II with a 24-200mm Zeiss Vario-Sonnar zoom lens, with a constant maximum aperture of F2.8. On paper it’s an impressively versatile package for both still and video capture, and we’ve spent a few days with a pre-production sample to get a feel for how Sony’s most powerful Cyber-shot yet performs.
