Ricoh Theta S boosts resolution, introduces Google Street View integration

Ricoh has unveiled the latest version of its 360-degree camera, the Theta S. Thanks to two 12MP 1/2.3″ sensors, the S is capable of 14MP 360-degree still image capture, up from the previous model’s 6MP images. Brighter lenses, 1080/30p video and integration with Google’s new Street View app are all onboard. Ricoh offers GR II firmware version 1.10

The Ricoh GR II’s firmware has been updated to version 1.10 from version 1.0.5. The update is a basic one, improving the camera’s ‘stability for general performance’ and bringing version 1.0.5 of the Image Sync software. Read more

Ricoh addresses ‘power off’ issue on some Pentax K-3 II cameras

Ricoh is addressing an anomaly found on a small group of its Pentax K-3 II digital SLRs in which the camera will not turn off, even when the power lever is in the ‘off’ position. Ricoh will service any K-3 II within a specific range of serial numbers at no charge, regardless of whether the camera is having the issue. Ricoh drops GR II price $100 three weeks after announcement

Just three weeks after Ricoh announced its GR II enthusiast compact, the company has dropped the MSRP by $ 100, from $ 799 to $ 699. While we don’t why Ricoh has dropped the price, it is arguable that the minor differences between the GR II and its predecessor didn’t justify the original $ 200 price difference. Read more

Ricoh announces THETA+ app and two new camera accessories

Ricoh has announced a new app called THETA+ for iOS and Android. With THETA+, owners of Ricoh’s THETA spherical camera can edit images shot with the device via a smartphone or tablet. The new app is designed to work with the existing THETA app, which enables shooting and sharing from a smartphone. Read more

Ricoh GR II adds Wi-Fi and not much else to GR feature set

Ricoh has announced the GR II, an update to its APS-C enthusiast compact. It maintains essentially all of the original GR’s specifications, including a 16MP sensor and 28mm F2.8 lens, but adds Wi-Fi to the feature set. Read more

Ricoh delays new Star series Pentax 70-200mm F2.8 for design change

Ricoh has announced it is to push back the availability date of its premium Pentax-D 70-200mm lens, as it needs more time to ensure it meets the standards required for a member of the Star-lens series. Initially due this Spring, the HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8ED DC AW is now set to arrive in Autumn. Read more

Ricoh unveils Pentax K-3 II with Pixel Shift Resolution mode

Ricoh has just launched the Pentax K-3 II semi-pro DSLR with an improved image stabilization system that drives a new Pixel Shift Resolution feature. Retaining its predecessor’s 24MP sensor, 27-point AF system, and durable construction, the K-3 II now offers sensor-shift IS with a claimed 4.5 stops of shake reduction. Read more
