  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 Real-world Samples

    We’ve just published a gallery of real-world samples shot using the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7. The GX7 is Panasonic’s latest Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens camera, and one of the company’s most interesting models yet. It features a new 16MP sensor, tiltable EVF and LCD, and offers several enthusiast-friendly features including highlight and shadow tone adjustment, an electronic (entirely silent) shutter and in-body image stabilization – a first for Panasonic.   • Canon EOS 70D preview updated with studio & real-world samples

    One of the hottest cameras of the year so far, the Canon EOS 70D won’t be in stores for a few more weeks but we’ve got hold of an early beta sample, and Canon has let us post pictures from it. Not wanting to waste any time, we’ve been busily shooting with it for the past few days both in the studio and out in the real world, and we’ve added a lot to our previously-published preview.   • Just posted: Olympus PEN E-P5 real-world samples

    We’ve been shooting with the Olympus PEN E-P5 for the past few weeks, in preparation for our review. Using a selection of lenses, we’ve put together a real-world samples gallery showing what the latest big PEN can do. In addition to shooting at the default settings, we’ve also tried adjusting the noise reduction and sharpening settings, and have included both out-of-camera JPEGs and Adobe Camera Raw conversions to give an idea for the choices you’re offered.     Just posted: Our real-world samples gallery shot with the Pentax Q7. The latest in Pentax’s series of tiny interchangeable lens cameras, the Q7 is the first to offer a larger 1/1.7 inch 12MP BSI CMOS sensor. We’re working on a full review, and as part of the process we’ve been out and about taking plenty of sample pictures on the Q7 in a range of different situations, to see how it performs.     Just posted: Sony Cyber-shot DSCRX1R hands-on preview. We’ve had a few days to try out Sony’s new Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R, the sister camera to the RX1. The only difference between these two full-frame enthusiast cameras is that the RX1R’s 24MP sensor lacks an anti-aliasing filter. We’ve created a hands-on preview of the RX1R, including a gallery of real-world samples and some preliminary studio tests, to give you an idea of how the new camera performs.     Just posted: Our hands-on preview of the new Sony Cyber-shot RX100 II. The RX100 II offers a host of improvements over its predecessor, including a new BSI-CMOS sensor, hot shoe, and articulating LCD. We’ve had a working sample of Sony’s new 20MP CX-format compact for a few days, and we’ve prepared a hands-on preview, including a gallery of real-world shots, showing off its improved image quality.   • First impressions and real-world samples from the Pentax K-50

    Fresh from the Pentax Ricoh launch event in New York, we’ve put together a real-world samples gallery from the Pentax K-50. The 16MP mid-range DSLR builds on the very likeable K-30 and promises improved image processing. We take a closer look at the K-50 and its similar sibling, the K-500, to see just what they bring to the table, as well as presenting a selection of full-resolution sample images.

    We’ve just posted a selection of real-world samples shot with the Nikon Coolpix A. The Coolpix A offers a 16MP APS-C sensor in a genuinely compact body, mated to a 28mm equivalent F2.8 retractable lens. We’ve put together a 21-image gallery of images shot in a variety of situations and at a range of apertures. Click through to see how it performed.

  • Fujifilm X100S Real-world Samples

    We’ve just added a 39-image sample gallery to our preview of the Fujifilm X100S. The X100S is the sucessor to the X100, one of our favorite cameras of the past couple of years, but one that was not without its share of quirks. The X100S features a new 16MP X-TRANS sensor, a hybrid AF system with on-sensor phase-detection autofocus and numerous operational improvements. We previewed the new camera earlier this year and we’ll be adding more content to that as we work towards a full review but for now, click through for a link to our gallery of real-world samples.

    Just Posted: Our real world samples gallery from the Leica X2. Following the Sigma DP series, Leica was one of the first companies to offer a large sensor in a compact-bodied camera with its X1. The X2 retains its predecessor’s 36mm equivalent F2.8 lens but adds a 16MP APS-C CMOS sensor. We’ve been shooting the X2 in a variety of lighting situations and at a range of apertures to give a taste for what the camera can do. The 49-image gallery includes a selection of Adobe Camera Raw conversions as well as out-of-camera JPEGs.
