It’s true, the temperature might drop, but your camera sure won’t. The Three Way Camera Strap offers three camera slingin’ styles from one super-sturdy strap.

Rain Forest Retreat: Remote Jungle Tree-House Hotel

28 Oct

[ By Delana in Boutique & Art Hotels & Global. ]

We all get tired of modern urban living from time to time, but one American couple was so fed up with city life that they decided to create an entirely new community in the Costa Rican Jungle.

Finca Bellavista is a lush green community of permanent residents and people who are just passing through, nestled in the gorgeous jungle setting of Costa Rica. The community is composed of a system of tree houses in the canopy of the rain forest, all connected by suspended wooden sky bridges and zip lines.

The retreat was founded by Mateo and Erica Hogan to house like-minded individuals who need to get away from it all – far, far away. Folks who want to stay permanently can buy a plot and build their own treehouses; those who only want to experience the retreat on a vacation basis can temporarily rent a number of existing units.

Although the worldwide trend seems to be toward luxury vacations and full-service resorts in which one’s every whim is catered to, Finca Bellavista is a wholly unique destination. It is nestled in a dream-like environment but is by no means a luxury resort. It is comfortable, but the property’s focus is more on adventure and environmental stewardship than on pampering visitors and residents.

A Sudden Burst of Rain

21 Jun

When Jorgen arrived we had a great overcast sky without a hint of rain, but shortly after getting on the road the downpour started.  So much so that we had to abandon the first location (without getting a single shot) and headed south trying to outrun the edge of the storm… it continued to catch up with us as we hurried in and out of the car for shelter as we chased after these images.

And catch them we did.

One of my all-time favorite quick shoots, even though Jorgen, my camera and I all got soaked.

20 September, 2010 – Photography, Rain or Shine

Is the weather rotten? Raining? Snowing? Too hot? Too cold? A good day to stay in bed and read LuLa on your iPad?

Fugedaboutit. Get up, grab your camera and get outside. That’s the lesson learned by many photographers over the years. Get outside your comfort zone. Push yourself. You may come home at the end of the day, cold and wet, and possibly without a single worthwhile shot. Or you might have captured something wonderful.

You can read more on this thought by Contributor Mark Dubovoy in his latest essay – Photography, Rain or Shine.

Speaking of Mark, he is now on his way to Germany for this week’s bi-annual Photokina show. Mark will be reporting regularly throughout the week on the major product announcements as well as many of the more obscure ones that we know will interest LuLa readers.

"Awesome video presentation.

I have learnt so much more after looking through this on the weekend.  The tip about pushing blacks and fill light in the Basic Module was worth the price alone.  My images of a recent trip to the Australian Outback are popping and punching with delight!

Thanks Michael and Jeff – I really appreciate you taking the considerable time to share your in-depth knowledge and insights."
