Microsoft Publisher 2010 – Hide Recent Publications List or Show More

For privacy, configure Publisher 2010 not to show the list of your recent publications. Or, show more of them.

By default, Microsoft Publisher 2010 displays a list of your recent publications when selecting “Recent” from the Backstage View. This lets you quickly access publications that you have previously edited, especially useful if you save documents on a wide array of folders and/or network locations.

If you find this feature useful and work on a large number of publications, you may wish Publisher 2010 to show more recent documents. On the other hand, if you are concerned about privacy you may wish Publisher 2010 to not show this information. To make either configuration change:…

Microsoft Publisher 2010 – Nudge Objects Slightly and Configure the Nudging Distance

Move objects in Publisher 2010 publications slightly without using the mouse, and fine-tune this nudging distance.

Instead of always using the mouse in Microsoft Publisher 2010 to move objects around a publication, you can click on an object and then press the arrow keys to move objects slightly up, down, left, or right. You may find this convenient when fine-tuning a document layout.

Stop showing the New Template Gallery when starting Publisher 2010.

Upon starting Microsoft Publisher 2010 you are shown a “New Template Gallery” inside the Office 2010 Backstage View. From here you can open documents, access recent files, create new documents, and more in the left pane. In the right pane you can choose from various templates that may include business cards, menus, newsletters, and postcards.

While some appreciate this feature, others would rather start Publisher 2010 with just a blank document.
