clotairedamy.com Massive Attack – Mezzanine LP 1998 Colorado Springs photographer Massive Attack is a collaborative music production duo from Bristol, UK. Working with co-producers, as well as various session musicians and guest vocalists, they make records and tour live. The duo are considered to be progenitors of the trip hop genre. DJs Grantley “Grant” Evan Marshall (aka Daddy G or “G”), Andrew “Andy” Lee Isaac Vowles (aka Mushroom or “Mush”) and graffiti artist-turned-MC (later turned-singer) Robert Del Naja (aka 3D or “D”) met as members of DJ partying collective, The Wild Bunch. One of the first homegrown soundsystems in the UK, The Wild Bunch became dominant on the Bristol club scene in the mid-1980s. Massive Attack started as a spin-off production trio in 1988, with the independently-released song, “Any Love”, sung by falsetto-voiced singer-songwriter Carlton McCarthy, and then, with considerable backing from Neneh Cherry, they signed to Circa Records in 1990 — committing to deliver six studio albums and a “best of” compilation. Circa became a subsidiary of, and was later subsumed into, Virgin Records, which in turn was acquired by the now Terra Firma-owned majority Style Massive Attack’s style is often thought of as being experimental. The duo have talked of how they have a different creative approach to each album and “avoid the obvious.” Some of their most noted songs have been without choruses and have featured dramatically atmospheric dynamics, conveyed … Video Rating: 4 / 5

Part one: www.youtube.com In the news: MTA warned: Let photographers shoot www.baltimoresun.com MTA administrator disavows curbs on photography www.baltimoresun.com MTA promises to stop violating civil liberties — again www.baltimoresun.com ———————————————————————– This incident occurred at the Cultural Center station in Baltimore, Maryland on March 21, 2011. I was visiting from Oregon, and as part of my career interests, I explored the transit systems of Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston. In each and every one of those cities, except for Baltimore, I had no problems photographing these amazing systems. This incident in Baltimore started with me enroute from the B&O Railroad Museum to Penn Station. I had boarded a light-rail train at the Convention Center, but realized that I needed to be on a “Penn Station” bound train, so I stepped off at Cultural Center Station in order to board the correct train. While waiting for my train, I snapped a photo or two of passing trains, and was immediately inundated with police officers confronting me about my photography. I also had a video camera on hand, so this entire incident, except for the last bit at Penn Station, was recorded. MTA Police finally gave back my farecard and ordered me to “cease and desist,” but continued to surround and bother me until I boarded the next Penn Station train. They followed me to Penn Station and got Amtrak Police involved … Video Rating: 4 / 5
