  • Just Posted: Six page Nikon D5200 hands-on preview

    nikon_d5200.png

Just Posted: Nikon D5200 in-hand preview. We’ve been able to spend some time with Nikon’s latest mass-market DSLR – the 24MP D5200. At first glance it’s nearly indistinguishable from its predecessor, the D5100, but beyond the sensor, it also gains the 39-point AF system and 2,016 pixel metering sensor from the D7000. This represents a significant step up for this class of DSLR. It also has the option to join the ‘connected camera’ set, with the option of a clip-on Wi-Fi unit. Is this enough to keep the D5200 relevant amongst its smaller mirrorless rivals?

  • Mozilla Firefox – Tabbed Browsing – Completely Disable the New Tab Page

Completely disable Firefox’s New Tab Page, including the top-right button.

Newer versions of Mozilla Firefox show a “New Tab” page whenever you open a new tab. This shows the top sites accessed with the browser so you can frequently get back to them.

While many people like this feature, others would rather have a clean page when opening a new tab, not needing to see their most-visited sites. Plus, depending on their security / privacy configuration, they may not see any sites on this page, only nine blank rectangles. Thus, you can click the button at the top-right of the page to hide the sites / rectangles. However, that button still exists, and some people want a completely clean new tab page……

  • Windows Internet Explorer 9 – Stop Showing the New Tab Page!

When creating a new tab inside Internet Explorer 9, show a blank page instead of the default New Tab page that lists your most popular sites.

When you open a new tab inside Windows Internet Explorer 9 such as by pressing CTRL + T or clicking the “New Tab” icon that appears when you hover to the right of your pre-existing tabs, you are shown a page displaying your most visited web sites. This “New Tab” page also lets you re-open closed tabs or reopen the last session (if applicable), initiate InPrivate Browsing, and access a Suggested Sites feature.

While clicking the “Hide sites” link near the bottom of this page hides your list of popular sites, what if you want to do away with this page altogether and just see a blank space appear whenever you create a new tab?…
