05 Nov

Filmed in Seaside Oregon. Camera – Canon Rebel T2i 550D Lens – Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 Ai set to f/2 -Lens Adapter: Fotodiox PRO NF-EOS -Monopod -1080p 24 frames per second -100 ISO, Auto White Balance, 1/1600 sec shutter (would have used slower but too bright and did not have any filters and wanted to keep f/2 apperture). Otherwise, would probably recommend 1/50 shutter speed @ 24 fps). -Edited: Adobe Premiere CS5 64 & Magic Bullet Looks. Just posted: Our review of Nikon’s latest superzoom for its DX format SLRs, the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. In the first of our new series of lens reviews produced in partnership with DxOMark, we take a look at the longest-range zoom currently made for any interchangeable lens camera system. By current standards it’s large and heavy for its class, and expensive too, but does its imaging performance make this all worthwhile? Read our review to find out.

Hands-on with the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/4G ED VR

25 Oct

70-200F4.jpg

We’ve been one of the first publications to get a chance to handle Nikon’s AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/4G ED VR. The example we used is officially pre-production, so we weren’t able to shoot samples with it, but it had the build and handling of a finished model, so we were able to form some initial impressions of this long hoped-for F4 tele-zoom lens.

Nikon announces development of three 1 Nikkor lenses

24 Oct

1nikkor-32.png

Nikon has announced that it is developing three additional lenses for its 1 System mirrorless cameras. The 32mm f/1.2 will offer a classic short telephoto ‘portrait’ option, equivalent to an 86mm lens on the 35mm full frame format. The 6.7-14mm f/3.5-5.6 VR is an image-stabilized, 18-35mm-equivalent wideangle zoom. Finally the 10-100mm f/4-5.6 VR superzoom will offer a similar 27-270mm-equivalent range to Nikon’s existing 1 System powerzoom, but in a smaller package with a mechanical zoom ring. Full specifications, price and release date are yet to be revealed.

Nikon announces AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm F3.5-4.5G ED VR affordable full-frame lens

14 Jun

AFS_Nikkor_24_85_VR.png

Nikon has announced the AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm F3.5-4.5G ED VR, a comparatively affordable, stabilized, variable aperture standard zoom lens for full frame cameras. It comes as Nikon celebrates the sale of the 70 millionth Nikkor lens since 1933, and the 30 millionth silent-wave motor lens since the system’s introduction in 1996. It’s hard not to interpret the announcement as lending weight to the rumors of an affordable full-frame body, since it’s hard to imagine large numbers of D800 owners using a lens with a recommended price of $ 599 as their everyday lens.

Nikon updates firmware for Nikkor 1 zoom lenses

26 Nov

nikon_1_10-30_vr.png?v=1230

Nikon has released firmware updates for its Nikkor 1 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6, 30-100mm f/3.8-5.6 and 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 lenses. The 10-30mm and 30-100mm lenses are upgraded to firmware v1.02, which corrects a bug which causes an incorrect aperture value to be recorded. Meanwhile the 10-100mm power zoom firmware moves to v1.01 that, like the 1.01 upgrades for the other two lenses, addresses a problem by which images could ‘be blurred when shot immediately after the camera was shaken or moved quickly’.
