Firmware v1.1.1 makes the Canon R6’s video much more usable

Alongside DPReviewTV’s re-assessment of the Canon EOS R6, we conducted some simple side-by-side testing of the latest firmware, in comparison to the original version. Our original tests showed that the R6 would deliver the promised amount of recording time in fairly challenging conditions, but that it would then struggle to recover.

Over the following weeks, diligent testing by users revealed Canon was factoring-in the initial temperature of the camera when determining how long to let it record for, but then was calculating recovery times without much consideration of internal or ambient temperature. This meant that the camera would take a long time to recover its recording capability and there was nothing you could do to speed up the process.

This could all be side-stepped if your shooting allows the use of an external recorder, but this somewhat undermines the convenience of the R6 as a stills-and-video tool.

At the time of release, Canon’s description of this firmware update was:

  • Temperature detection and shooting time control in video shooting have been improved. In addition, the total shooting time when the short-time recording and power-on/off are performed repeatedly at room temperature is improved.

Our more recent testing supports this claim. A camera running firmware v1.1.1 was able to record for longer and, most critically, recover recording time faster than the example running firmware v1.0.

This makes the R6 a much more usable camera for stop/start video capture.

Of course the downside of the camera taking ambient and internal temperature into account to a greater degree is that its behavior is now more temperature sensitive and hence less predictable. However, this is much more consistent with how most other cameras work.

The original firmware was very dependable: you’d tend to get 40 minutes of 4K/24, 25 or 30p, as promised, but with dependably long recovery times. This meant that you were much more likely to hit that 40 minute limit than with other cameras that, on paper, promised less recording time (because they’d do a better job of recovering between clips).

With the latest firmware, in moderate and room-temperature shooting at least, the R6 is much better at recovering, which means you hit the temperature limit much less readily, particularly if you shoot clips of video and have some time between each one.

However, given we’re experiencing an early cold snap in Seattle, we can’t comment on how the camera will do when the summer comes.

Of course none of this is much help for, say, wedding photographers, for whom it may not be possible to turn a camera off for several minutes between clips, but it means the R6 is a much more usable camera for anyone shooting sequences of multi-minute clips.

DJI’s Mavic Mini 2 now has 4K/30p video, Raw photos, OcuSync 2.0 and more

DJI has unveiled the DJI Mavic Mini 2, a second-generation compact drone that keeps the same look as its predecessor while improving performance in key areas.

On the outside, the DJI Mavic Mini 2 looks almost indistinguishable from the Mavic Mini. It features the same 249g weight (1g under the 250g weight limit that requires you to register the drone with the United States Federal Aviation Authority (FAA)), the same white livery and the same fold-up design that makes is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

Inside, however, the drone has received a number of updates, both in hardware and software. At the heart of the camera onboard the Mavic Mini 2 is a 1/2.3-inch sensor that can capture 12-megapixel photos and 4K/30p video at 100Mbps. In addition to the new 4K video capabilities, the Mavic Mini 2 can also capture Raw photos—something the Mavic Mini wasn’t capable of. When shooting video in 1080p, users can now zoom in 2x with lossless quality and 4x via digital zoom.

The Mavic Mini 2 now has DJI’s OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology, which increases transmission range by 150% compared to the Mavic Mini for a maximum line-of-sight range of 10km (6.2m). Upgraded motors in the Mavic Mini also improve the flight time, acceleration, top speed and wind resistance (capable of withstanding winds up to 38.6kmph (24mph).

No new sensors have been added, but that means the Mavic Mini 2 retains the basic vision and positioning sensors on the bottom of the device to help map out the terrain for the assisted landing function. Likewise, DJI’s array of safety features, including geofencing, Return to Home and Altitude lock are present.

The Mavic Mini 2 comes with a number of pre-programmed shooting modes for quick setting changes that make it easier to track subjects and apply movements with minimal user input. Below are the descriptions for each of the pre-programmed shooting modes:

  • QuickShots: Pre-programmed movements and image capture modes.
    • Dronie: DJI Mini 2 flies backward and upward, with the camera tracking your subject. Set a height limit of 40, 60, 80, 100, or 120 ft.
    • Helix: DJI Mini 2 flies upward and away, spiraling around your subject. Set a height limit of 40, 60, 80, 100, or 120 ft.
    • Rocket: DJI Mini 2 flies straight up into the air with the camera pointing downward following your subject. Set a height limit of 40, 60, 80, 100, or 120 ft.
    • Circle: DJI Mini 2 will circle around your subject at a constant altitude and distance.
    • Boomerang: DJI Mini 2 flies a boomerang-like oval flight path around your subject, starting and stopping video in the same place.
  • Panoramas: Capture a wider perspective with select pano modes.
    • Sphere: DJI Mini 2 automatically captures twenty-six images and stitches them together for a crystal-clear image.
    • 180°: Captures seven photos for sweeping landscape images.
    • Wide-Angle: Captures a wide 3×3 image consisting of nine images.
  • Image modes: Different photo modes for different scenarios.
    • AEB Triple Shot: Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) takes three images of varying exposure and merges them for a vivid image. This can be edited further to bring out a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image in post-processing.
    • Timed Shots: Give yourself a few extra seconds before taking that photo with timed shots.

Additional accessories available for the Mavic Mini 2 include a 360-degree propeller guard, a DJI mini bag, a charging display case, a DIY creative kit for customizing the look of the Mavic Mini and a snap adapter for attaching an LED screen to the top of the drone.

Panasonic firmware shares more features across S1, S1R, S1H and S5

Panasonic has announced an extensive series of feature-enhancing firmware updates for its S1, S1R, S1H and S5 full-frame mirrorless cameras, along with the G100 Micro Four Thirds model. All five updates will become available on November 24, 2020.

The updates vary between models, often adding features and improvements from the other cameras. For example, the boost in AF performance for the S1H, S1R and S1 brings them inline with the performance of the S5. Meanwhile, the S1R, S1 and S5 gain the ability to specify shutter speed and gain (rather than shutter speed and ISO), an option originally reserved for the S1H.

Notable improvements include the S1R gaining 10-bit HLG capture and 4:2:2 10-bit output of 50p and 60p 4K footage over HDMI.

The S5 gains a series of DCI ‘cinema 4K’ (4096 x 2160) shooting modes. The S5 also gains the ability to stream Raw footage, which can be encoded as ProRes RAW using an Atomos external recorder. The S5 also gets Master Pedestal (black level) control and a Vector Scope display mode.

S1 users, in addition to the promise of firmware v1.6 in November, will gain a series of 12-bit Raw video output options, in a v2.0 update promised for 2021. This will also add the ability to explicitly control the Dual ISO behavior, along with a host of 10-bit internal capture modes which were previously only available on the S1H. This will include V-Log options for users who have bought the SFU2 Log upgrade.

ON1 Photo RAW 2021 now available, includes Portrait AI, new selection tools and much more

After unveiling ON1 Photo RAW 2021 in September, ON1 has officially released the new software. ON1 describes the latest version of its flagship software a ‘hassle-free, professional photo organizer, raw processor, layered editor and effects app.’ ON1 promises its software is ‘perfect for those seeking an ultra-convenient all-in-one photo editing solution.’

ON1 Photo RAW 2021 includes numerous additions and improvements, including improved automatic AI adjustments, a new portrait editing workflow, improved color selection technology and much more.

The primary new feature is ON1 Portrait AI. This technology finds each face in a selected image and analyzes the photo to locate the eyes, mouth and skin to allow the user to make many quick adjustments, including frequency separation-based skin retouching and adjustments to lighting. ON1 states that ‘in a few simple clicks, you can quickly brighten up the eyes, whiten the teeth and make your subject glow with very little effort.’

Additional retouching tools added to ON1 Photo RAW 2021 include a new Spot Healing Brush tool. The non-destructive brush allows quick removal of dust spots, power lines and other unwanted objects from your image. With a new filter, you can also quickly change a specific color in your image. ON1 says you can use the new filter to change the color of objects such as eyes, flowers, buildings, clothes and more. A similar framework has been added to Photo RAW 2021 allowing you to quickly select a specific color to create a mask, allowing for very specific, localized edits to different parts of your image.

If you’d like to liven up your landscape images, AI Auto and new brush shapes allow the user to easily add clouds to a dull sky. Further, with the color selection technology in ON1 Photo RAW 2021, you can easily make selective edits to your sunrise and sunset images to bring out or add new colors to a scene.

The new version of the software includes workflow and usability improvements as well. With a new Full Screen Preview mode, you can view your image without any distracting user interface elements. You can also present selected images in a full-screen slideshow with user-adjustable settings. For users with large photo libraries, it is all too easy to accidentally import duplicate files or have a cluttered archive. With ON1 Photo RAW 2021’s new Smart Organize mode, the software can automatically locate duplicate images and clean up your files. You can also use this mode to track down all photos captured at a specific location. ON1 Photo RAW 2021 also includes the ability to batch process HDR and panoramic images provided the source image files are organized within subfolders.

DJI’s new Pocket 2 three-axis-stabilized mini camera offers larger sensor, wider lens and more

DJI has announced the release of its new DJI Pocket 2, a second-generation three-axis mini camera.

The updated camera drops the Osmo nomenclature its predecessor bore and improves its performance across the board. Despite keeping its compact size, weighing just 117g (4.2oz), the Pocket 2 has a larger sensor and wider lens than the Osmo Pocket, which DJI claims has dramatically improve image quality for both photos and video.

The new 1/1.7” sensor (Osmo Pocket had a 1/2.3” sensor) works in tandem with a new 20mm (equivalent) F1.8 lens to capture 16MP photos in standard mode and up to 64MP images in high-resolution mode. The Pocket 2 can record 4K video at up to 60fps at a 100Mbps bitrate. DJI has added HDR recording and the device now offers up to 8x zoom using the 64MP high-resolution mode or 4x lossless zoom when shooting at 16MP or in 1080p.

DJI has also improved the focus system, which should make it easily to track moving subjects faster and more accurately than with the Osmo Mobile. The Hybrid 2.0 AF feature uses a combination of contrast and phase detection to deliver these performance improvements.

DJI Matrix Stereo also improves upon one of the weakest points of the Osmo Mobile—audio. The new audio system uses an array of four microphones to capture what DJI calls an ‘immersive audio experience.’ DJI has added a number of audio features, including Directional Audio, SoundTrack and Audio Zoom. Below is a description of the new features straight from DJI:

’Directional Audio enhances sound recording from those microphones to pick up as much detail as possible, with SoundTrack adjusting the audio based on where the camera is facing, while Audio Zoom narrows the sound field when zooming the camera in. To further filter out unwanted background sounds, an optional wind noise reduction helps keep the audio clean in outdoor settings.’

As with nearly all of DJI’s products, there’s a handful of pre-programmed shooting modes included with the Pocket 2:

  • Pro Mode: Control advanced camera settings such as ISO, shutter speed, EV, and focus mode.
  • ActiveTrack 3.0: Select a subject and let DJI Pocket 2 keep it in the frame automatically.
  • Slow Motion: Capture the fast-moving world in slow motion with a max speed and resolution of 8x at 1080p.
  • Timelapse, Hyperlapse, Motionlapse: Speed up the world around you with the varying effects of three different time-lapse operations. Hyperlapse automatically integrates Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) for added smoothness. Users have the ability to save individual images separately, record in RAW format, and use ActiveTrack 3.0.
  • Panoramas:
    • 180° Pano: Captures four photos for sweeping landscape images.
    • 3×3 Pano: Merges nine images for a wide and detailed view.
  • Livestreaming: Livestream directly to Facebook, YouTube, or RTMP.
  • Story Mode: Preset camera movements, color profiles, and music make it easier to choose a template, record the moment, and share to social media instantly.

Other features include a new Fast Wake option that will instantly turn on the device so you don’t miss any action, a Drop Aware function that will ‘take preventative measures when it senses the gimbal falling’ and a Pause Recording feature that will quickly pause video recordings.

With new hardware comes new accessories, including a charging case, wireless microphone set, waterproof housing, a more compact control wheel, an extension rod, a (more) wide-angle lens attachment, a wireless module and a smartphone support system. All of the above features and more can be controlled with the free DJI Mimo smartphone app, available on both Android and iOS.

The DJI Pocket 2 can be purchased in two configurations: the DJI Pocket 2 with the Mini Control Stick and Tripod mount for $ 349, or the DJI Pocket 2 Creator Combo, which includes the Mini Control Sitck, tripod mount, wide-angle lens attachment, wireless microphone with windscreen, the do-it-all handle and the micro tripod for $ 499. Units can be purchased through DJI’s online store and authorized DJI retailers.

Adobe gives Photoshop 2021 even more Sensei AI power, brings livestreaming to Photoshop for iPad

As part of Adobe MAX 2020, which is virtual (and free to attend) this year, Adobe has announced the latest updates to the Adobe Photoshop family. Artificial intelligence and Adobe Sensei play a major role in today’s updates, which are now available for all subscribers.

Adobe calls Photoshop 2021, also known as version 22.0, the ‘world’s most advanced AI application for creatives,’ so let’s see what’s new. The primary new features are Neural Filters, Sky Replacement, improved Refine Edge Selections and the all-new Discover panel.

The Neural Filters workspace is a ‘complete reimagination of filters and image manipulation inside Photoshop.’ The first version includes a large set of filters, some of which are still in a beta state. Adobe wants to get as many of them into the hands of users for testing. The Neural Filters workspace offers users access to non-destructive filters including Skin Smoothing, Smart Portrait and more. Smart Portrait allows you to transform a portrait subject along parameters such as age, expression, pose and more. AI analyzes the portrait to allow you to change aspects of your subject’s features, such as changing the direction of the subject’s head, gaze and the intensity of their smile. As you can see below, you can even adjust the direction of light in an image.

In addition to making AI-powered adjustments to portraits, Neural Filters also includes features to help repair damaged images, including Photo Restoration, Dust and Scratches, Noise Reduction, Face Cleanup, JPEG Artifacts Restoration and even a Neural Filter for colorizing a black and white image, a task which takes a considerable amount of skill and time to perform manually. Moving on to Sky Replacement. Using the power of AI, Photoshop can analyze your image to detect what areas of your image are foreground versus sky and then perform masking and blending in order to realistically change the sky in your image. You can select from Photoshop’s database of skies or add your own. There are creative controls as well, including the ability to zoom in and select a portion of the sky and move the sky around the scene. Today’s Photoshop release includes around 25 sky presets. It seems every major release of Photoshop includes substantive improvements to making selections in your images and the latest release is no different. Adobe Sensei is powering a pair of new features in the Select and Mask workspace: Refine Hair and Object Aware Refine Mode.

Making selections of hair has long been challenging, but Sensei now allows you to leverage its power to refine a selection incorporating hair in a single click. Similarly, Object Aware Refine Mode uses the power of AI to make even more precise, informed selections of portions of your image. Consider the example image below of a selection of the hair in the lion’s mane. It’s an impressive selection that was performed in only a few seconds.

Photoshop’s new Discover panel includes a brand-new learn and search experience. Within Photoshop, you can quickly access an expanded library of educational content, new step-by-step tutorials, and a vastly improved search functionality. AI makes context-aware recommendations based on your work, including tips and tutorials. There are new one-click Quick Actions that allow you to instantly perform certain tasks when you’re in a rush or teach you how to do the task for yourself step by step.

Photoshop also includes Pattern Preview and shape creation features. Pattern Preview is a special view mode that allows you to view how your document would look as a pattern. Creating and adjusting shapes on the fly is now easier. There’s a new tool to create triangles and on-canvas controls to resize and adjust shapes.

Further improvements include enhancements to the Properties Panels and major revisions to how you access plug-ins within Photoshop. There’s a new plugins marketplace within the application where you’ll find curated collections in addition to the wide array of plugins and integrations on offer for Photoshop. Adobe has also integrated UXP to Photoshop. UXP is its new extensibility platform for building plugins.

This plugin architecture results in improved reliability and performance for plugins. There are already plugins built on UXP available in Photoshop. These include plugins to connect Photoshop with apps and services such as Dropbox, Trello and Slack. Plus, there are image editing plugins from photographers such as Tony Kuyper, Greg Benz and Davide Barranca.

On the topic of connectedness, when working on a cloud document inside Photoshop, versions are now automatically created, allowing you to look back or revert to prior states. Within Photoshop, it’s now possible to view, revert, open, save as and rename save states within the version history. Cloud documents are also now available offline.

Photoshop for iPad

When using Photoshop on iPad, you can now change the dimensions, resolution and sampling of a PSD file, matching what you can do with a PSD file on the desktop version of Photoshop. You can learn more about this function by clicking here.

Within Photoshop on iPad, users can now start a live stream via the Export menu. You can use the iPad’s built-in camera to interact with members of Adobe Behance. Live streams are sent to Behance automatically and Adobe will be moderating and posting selected recordings in the gallery on Behance and within the Photoshop on iPad app directly. There is also a new Behance Gallery within the app. This lets you view the work of others, watch live streams (including recordings), browse through Behance projects and share your own work. Ilford Photo Darkroom Guide video series reveals printing techniques and more for beginners

Black and white film and paper manufacturer Ilford Photo has produced a series of videos to help beginners get to grips with essential darkroom techniques. Hosted by Rachel Brewster-Wright from Little Vintage Photography the collection of videos tackles some of the basics of common darkroom questions in a simple to follow format.

So far, subjects covered in the 16-video playlist include dodging and burning, selenium toning, using multi-grade paper and more. The series sits alongside a mass of other educational content from the film-maker that covers issues such as how an enlarger works, pinhole photography, a checklist for setting up your own darkroom and processing your first roll of film. This is mixed with inspirational interviews with black and white photographers and printers, as well as footage inside the Ilford Factory in the UK.

Adobe Lightroom Classic 10.0 released, includes Color Grading and more

Adobe has released Lightroom Classic version 10.0, ushering in a variety of performance improvements and new features, including new controlled color grading adjustments for shadows, midtones and highlights.

With Lightroom Classic’s new color grading tool, users can control the color separately in midtones, shadows and highlights, or adjust the color of your entire image with a global control. The Color Grading panel replaces Split Toning and offers additional control overall color. Within Color Grading, you can adjust hue, saturation and luminance by moving the point in each color wheel. When making adjustments, if you hold the Shift key or Command key, you restrict wheel movement for Saturation or Hue adjustments, respectively.

The Color Grading panel also includes Blending and Balance sliders. The Blending slider ‘adjusts the amount of overlap between the shadows and highlights.’ The Balance slider balances the effect of sliders between highlights, midtones and shadows. If the value is greater than zero, the effect of highlights will be increased. A value below zero increases the effect of the shadows. If you want to recreate the effect of the old Split Toning effect, set the Blending slider to 100.

Lightroom Classic version 10 includes performance improvements as well. Adobe promises faster editing when using brushes and gradients when GPU acceleration is enabled. Further, the new version delivers faster scrolling through the Library Grid, Folders and Collections, particularly for users with large catalogs.

When using the Loupe, Compare and Reference views in Lightroom, there is improved control over zoom levels with new Scrubby zoom and Box zoom options. Scrubby Zoom can be used while dragging your move left or right while pressing the Shift key. This is only available when GPU acceleration is enabled. The Box Zoom is available in Library and Develop modules by pressing Ctrl on Windows or Command on macOS while drawing a box with your cursor. The Navigator panel has been updated as well, it now offers Fit/Fill, 100% and Zoom percent options (ranging from 6% to 1600%).

For Canon camera users, you can see what you are shooting in real-time when tethered to Lightroom Classic version 10. Your connected camera’s live view will appear in a new, resizable window with orientation options. The tether bar includes focus control buttons and an autofocus button. In addition to new tethered support, Lightroom Classic 10.0 includes new camera and lens profile support. The Fujifilm X-S10, Panasonic Lumix S5, Sony A7C and Sony A7S Mark III are all now supported. A variety of Sigma lenses and Voigtlander lenses have new support in Lightroom Classic 10.0. DJI updates Ronin line: RS 2, RSC 2 3-axis gimbals with higher payloads, new shooting modes and more

DJI has revealed a new pair of gimbals that are successors to the company’s popular Ronin-S and Ronin-SC stabilization systems. The new DJI RS 2 and RSC 2 are ‘redesigned and reimagined’ three-axis handheld gimbals for filmmakers of all types.

DJI RS 2

The DJI RS 2 is the successor to the Ronin-S and is made to be used with DSLR and compact cinema camera setups up to 4.5kg (10lbs). Despite the heavy payload, DJI claims the new RS 2 features up to 12 hours of battery life, as well as a new quick-charge function built into the handle for quickly adding two hours of use with just 15 minutes of charging.

DJI is using its ‘newly optimized’ Titan Stabilization Algorithm for driving the onboard brushless motors, which it claims ‘reduces the need for manual user input while compensating for user movement and optimizing the gimbal tilt and angle.’ Also new is a SuperSmooth mode that’s specifically tuned to compensate for movement when using longer focal lengths up to 100mm.

Like its predecessor, the RS 2 features axis locks for secure transport and a new dual-layer mounting plate that’s compatible with both Arca-Swiss and Manfrotto standards.

A new 1.4” color touchscreen on the rear of the RS 2 serves as a way to cycle through settings, camera data or even a live feed from the camera. Two onboard RSA ports can double as NATO ports, enabling the RS 2 to be used in conjunction with other DJI and third-party accessories, including jibs, car attachments, sliders, grips and remote controllers.

DJI RSC 2

Just as the the DJI RS 2 is a successor to the Ronin-S, the RSC 2 is a successor to DJI’s Ronin-SC. The updated gimbal is constructed of steel and aluminum, which work to increase rigidity while reducing the overall weight of the unit compared to the Ronin-SC by 35%. It also has a smaller physical footprint with a folded size of 180mm x 190mm (7” x 7.5”) — roughly the size of an A5 sheet of paper.

Despite the reduction in both size and weight, the RSC 2 features an increased maximum payload of 3kg (6.6lbs) over the Ronin-SC. DJI notes this makes it more than strong enough to carry a combination such as the Panasonic S1H with a 24–70mm lens attached.

It too features DJI’s improved Titan Stabilization Algorithm, dual-plate mount system and OLED screen, albeit slightly smaller at just 1”.

Other features and accessories

In addition to new hardware, both the RS 2 and RSC 2 have received a new pre-programmed movement mode — Time Tunnel. This new option is an inception-esque mode that performs a 360º roll while capturing a hyperlapse. This mode is in addition to other pre-programmed modes such as Flashlight, One-Tap Portrait Mode, Panorama, Roll 360, Timelapse and more.

Ronin RSC 2

The two gimbals also include an array of accessories for building out the gimbals to fit your needs. Optional accessories include a cheese plate, Focus Wheel, 3D Focus System, Twist Grip Dual Handle, RavenEye Image Transmission System, Tethered Control Handle, counterweight systems and more.

The DJI RS 2 is available starting today for $ 849 USD as a standalone unit and $ 999 in its Pro Combo configuration. DJI RS 2: Masterfully Crafted

Considering a tremendous amount of feedback from professional operators, DJI RS 2 incorporates carbon fiber in vital structural components, reducing weight down to 1.3 kg (2.86 lbs) while remaining highly durable. Pushing the innovation of single-handed gimbal technology even further, DJI RS 2 now supports a tested dynamic payload of 4.5 kg (10 lbs) for creators to use heavier camera and lens combinations while still achieving up to 12 hours of battery life. A new quick-charge function directly to the battery handle has been added for urgent situations, providing an extra two hours of battery life with just a 15-minute charge.

DJI RSC 2: Filmmaking Unfolds

A completely new and portable folding design makes DJI RSC 2 easy for creators to carry everywhere without adding additional weight to the gear list. Additionally, the folding design provides creative ways to use the gimbal such as vertical filming without additional accessories, as well as a new Briefcase mode, where the main gimbal arm can be loosened and slung forward to provide unique shooting angles. DJI RSC 2 weighs in at 1.2 kg (2.65 lbs), nearly 35% less than the original Ronin-S, and has a folding footprint of 180×190 mm, the same size as a sheet of A5 paper. Multifaceted Gimbals Supported by an Advanced App and Accessories
DJI RS 2 and RSC 2 were designed to expand beyond single-handed stabilization into tools that can be customized with additional accessories to achieve the desired shot. Fujifilm to improve X-T3 AF performance with new firmware, bringing it more in line with X-T4

In addition to announcing a camera, lens and more, Fujifilm has also revealed it will soon release a free firmware update for its X-T3 that will improve autofocus performance and more.

The firmware update will go live on October 28, according to Fujifilm’s press release. The improvements should see autofocus speeds more than double, taking focus times drop from 0.06 seconds to 0.02 seconds, bringing the X-T3’s autofocus performance more in line with the X-T4.

Fujifilm says it’s also improved the algorithm for predicting subject movements, which should result in a >90% ‘hit rate.’ The Face Tracking and Eye AF algorithm has also been re-written to double the tracking performance in continuous shooting modes.

Other improvements include the ability to use AF in low light levels down to -7EV with the new Fujinon XF 50mm F1.0 R WR lens, a new ‘Focus Limiter’ feature for setting pre-determined focus ranges, the ability to change the size of Single AF points while recording video and improvements that make it possible for third-party programs to read the ratings applied to pictures in-camera.
