Canon EOS 7D Mark II studio samples added to first impressions

The Canon EOS 7D II is the long-awaited follow up to the 7D, offering a 20.2MP APS-C sensor, dual-pixel AF with a 65-point phase detect system and continuous shooting at 10 fps. It’s also equipped with 1080/60p HD video capture and a number of compression options, as well as microphone and headphone ports. We put the 7D II (and its predecessor, the 7D) through its paces in our studio and have updated our first impressions review with the results. Read more

Raw conversions added to Canon EOS 7D Mark II: Real-world samples (beta)

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II is the long-awaited replacement to the 7D, which was launched in 2009. It features a 20.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and dual DIGIC 6 image processors. It has a new 65-point, all cross-type autofocus system as well as an updated version of Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system. We’ve just been provided with an early build of ACR 8.7 and we’ve taken the opportunity to add seven Raw conversions to our previously-published gallery of real-world samples. Click through to take a look

If you’re looking for a great photo opportunity this week look no further than October 8th. The Blood moon will be in full eclipse in the white areas of the map above.   Check dates and times for your area on the Lunar Eclipse Computer.

For my fellow Californians the date and times will look similar to this.

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II is the long-awaited replacement to the 7D, which was launched in 2009. It features a 20.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and dual DIGIC 6 image processors. It has a new 65-point, all cross-type autofocus system as well as an updated version of Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system that provides continuous phase detect focusing during video recording. We’ve been using a pre-production camera for a couple of days – just long enough to prepare a quick sample gallery. Click through to take a look

Canon EOS 7D Mark II beta image samples

We got a chance to shoot with a pre-release beta of Canon’s EOS 7D Mark II, so we grabbed it. We have prepared a 23 image gallery from a Canon event running at the Photokina show in Cologne. Although the image quality hasn’t been entirely finalized, this should give some first impressions of what that camera can do. We’ve included a sequence of 10fps shooting. Apple Raw update adds support for Canon G1 X Mark II and Nikon D4S

Apple recently released Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 5.02 for Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11. The update adds Raw image support for the following four cameras: Canon EOS Rebel T5, Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II, Nikon D4S and Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10. Get the update

Smaller, faster … better? Canon G1 X Mark II review

The Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II is an ambitious product that addresses some of the shortcomings of its predecessor by adding a 24-120mm F2.0-3.9 lens, faster AF system, tilting LCD, and 5.2 fps continuous shooting. Its 1.5″-type CMOS sensor also allows for image quality that should rival consumer or midrange interchangeable lens cameras. But do these improvements make the G1 X Mark II the large-sensor compact for enthusiasts? Read full review
