Pentax 105mm f/2.8 Super Takumar | Lens Review

07 Feb

This is a test of my Pentax 105 2.8 adapted onto my 550D (T2i). Clips are completely unedited and are all shot on the standard color profile. I acquired this lens, along with a 50/1.4 Asahi Takumar, a couple weeks ago. Generally, I have been pleased with this lens. I prefer using this for photos over video. My main gripe is the long minimum focusing distance, which is 4ft. I find it annoying because I often find myself too close to the subject and have to take steps back to get my subject in focus. Definitely not for macro work. The lens is pretty sharp at all apertures. It seems to be optimum around f/5.6. I like the bokeh; it has the look of more expensive lenses. Thanks for watching, please let me know how I can improve and what lenses you’d like to see next. Song: soundcloud.com The T2i produces the same video as the T3i. (and similar video and FOV with this lens on the 7D, Ti1, 50D, 60D, and various Nikons and other cameras with 1.5x & 1.6x crop factors.)

Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 43-86mm 1:3.5 Ai lens – Video Tests

31 Jan

In this episode I do a short set of video samples using the Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 43-86mm 1:3.5 Ai lens. This may be an old lens but it can still shoot some great video when coupled with a modern DSLR! Nikon 43-86mm 1:3.5 Ai Zoom-Nikkor lens: amzn.to This lens will work great on DX Nikon DSLRs for video or photos in Manual mode (‘M’ on the dial) only with Live view turned on. -soon I will post a video with a trick I found out to get them to work without Live View, comment if you need to know now! Please check your compatibility first! For Canon or other DSLRs, or micro four thirds cameras please look into lens adapters, they are a great option to get some inexpensive older Nikon glass on whatever you shoot with. Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 L USM | Lens Review

31 Jan

A test of a Canon EF 135 mm f/2 L USM lens on a Canon 550D (T2i). These clips are unedited and straight out of the camera using stock settings and the standard color profile. My friend let me borrow this lens for an afternoon and I must say, I’m VERY impressed. Sorry about the shaky movements while focusing, my tripod is terrible. The first thing I noticed was the extremely thin DOF at f/2. As you get closer to MFD, the background simply melts away; something that’s quite desirable among filmmakers. The other thing that struck me was how sharp this lens was at f/2. I didn’t notice any softness wide open. I also didn’t notice and CA. Autofocus on this lens is quick as well. Focusing manually is extremely easy as the focusing ring is large and moves smoothly. It’s tough to find a lens this fast and sharp. At a very reasonable price of around 0 used (0 new), this is a must-buy.
