Time lapse Foxglove Digitalis flowers forming and opening. Near the end of the sequence you will see the pollen sack splitting open to expose the pollen. The stigma is closed to begin with to prevent self pollination from the multitude of walking insects but later extends and the sticky end splits open to trap the pollen off the visiting flying insects. Bumble bees will normally fly to the lower flowers where it deposits pollen from the previous Digitalis flower. As it flies up the flower spike to drink nectar it collects pollen on its back which is then transported to the next Digitalis flower. 7-10 min interval between exposures. This sequence shows hypogeal germination of peas. Filmed for www.rightplants4me.co.uk Hypogeal germination In this type of germination, the cotyledons remain in the soil or just above the surface. Here the epicotyl elongates, pushing the plumule upwards. Time lapse video of snow storm. Music used is by Yuri Simonov (The Nutcracker Suite: I Overture (original)) I used Nikon D300, took 1800 odd pictures at 6MP resolution using a timer,? then resized it to 1080p using Irfan view. Finally converted to video @ 10 fps using VirtualDub. Added audio using Windows Movie Maker and reencoded at 720p, as the 1080p video was a bit too large.

Humans are part of the natural order. We’re risen apes that acquired language and learned to use tools. Skyscrapers and spacecraft may seem unnatural, but they’re just as much a part of the natural order as beaver dams and bird nests. Boring electrical lines hint at the energy solution of a mammalian species. Open your eyes to the world you’ve grown accustomed to, and rejoice in the fact that you can participate in the human project. @ReidGower – twitter.com/reidgower – youtu.be Music: Artist: DatA Song: “Blood Theme” Taken from the album “Skywriter” Courtesy of Ekler’o’shock Records and Naïve Editions facebook.com/0data0 Buy the song on iTunes: itunes.apple.com/ca/album/skywriter/id426310809 Shot on: Nikon D300 Canon 5DMII (courtesy of Victoria Camera Traders facebook.com/CameraTraders) GoPro Hero 2
