Raw vs Jpeg: Is your jpeg better than your RAW?

25 Oct

dombowerphoto.blogspot.com here it is shot on the nikon d300 with nikon cls and it is a jpeg vs raw video What is the surprising affect is that how much i am having to edit the raw to make it as good as the jpeg and then to make it better. I would say at the start i like the Jpeg 20%more than the raw after 10 minutes of editing i like them both the same then after another 3 minutes i then like the raw more. thus you understand why it takes so long to edit a photoshoot!

Digital Photography RAW vs JPEG

23 Oct

www.FroKnowsPhoto.com This video is kicking off RAW vs Jpeg vs Ken Rockwell week on FroKnowsPhoto.com Would you try putting out a fire with a garden hose if you had access to a FIRE HOSE? That is like saying I am going to shoot JPEG when I have a D3X or for that matter any camera that shoots RAW. Did you throw out your negatives when you got them back and just keep the 4×6 to make all future prints? I certainly hope not as you would be left with not such a great file to make prints. A lot more information on its way!!!! Follow the series I have created for RAW vs Jpeg week right here froknowsphoto.com

Just Posted: Updated Samsung NX200 Studio Comparison (raw & JPEG)

11 Nov

UPDATE: Following the provision of Beta raw support from Adobe, we’ve updated our previously published studio samples from the Samsung NX200 to include raw files. Also, we’ve recently got our hands on Samsung’s new NX 60mm F2.8 Macro ED OIS SSA and we’ve taken the opportunity to replace our existing samples with a completely new set, taken on the newer lens. In future, the 60mm macro will become our standard studio lens for the Samsung NX system.

Using Nikon Capture NX2 as a JPEG (or TIFF) Editor

30 Oct

Use NX2 to edit JPG (or TIFF) photos from any camera, not just Nikon. No need to use Photoshop or other complex image editors. Save .JPG (or .TIF) as .NEF to store all editing steps safely and separately with versioning. Easily output .NEF back to .JPG (or .TIF) for web upload or printing. I’m using NX2 v2.2 and Nik Efex Pro 3.0 for special effects.
