Samsung introduces 10mm F3.5 Fisheye for NX

Samsung has announced a 10mm F3.5 Fisheye lens for its NX mirrorless cameras, which it says is the smallest and slimmest of its type. It offers a 180 degree diagonal angle of view, and includes Samsung’s unique ‘i-Function’ button that allows the manual focus ring to re-purposed to operate other camera controls. It’s just over 26mm / 1″ thick, and is a featherweight 71g (2.5 oz). It’ll be available at the beginning of July.

Nikon introduces 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2 portrait lens for 1 System

Nikon has introduced the 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2 portrait lens for its 1 System of mirrorless cameras. The lens, which will provide the angle of view and depth of field control of an 86mmm F3.2 lens for a full-frame system, making it the most enthusiast-friendly lens yet released for the 1 System. The lens, whose development was announced in October 2012, is also the first to use a silent wave motor for focus and to incorporate the company’s ‘nano crystal coat.’ Consistent with these loftier ambitions, Nikon will ask around $ 900 for the lens when it becomes available in June.

Benro introduces Cool Walker line of camera bags in the UK

Benro has announced a new ‘Cool Walker’ line of camera bags through its UK distributor, Kenro. According to the press release, the Cool Walker line is aimed at travel and sports photographers, and includes thirteen variants of backpacks, shoulder and zoom bags. The smallest bag in the line can carry one SLR and a lens, while the largest is designed to carry two SLRs, eight lenses, two flashguns and a 15″ laptop. Cinetics introduces CineVise camera mount with vise grips

Video accessories maker Cinetics has announced the CineVise camera mount. Similar to its Cine System, it is built around Joby’s popular Gorillapod Focus flexible tripod. The CineVise includes clamps around its feet, allowing you to firmly mount a DSLR or small video camera to any surface. It can be purchased from the Cinetics store as a complete system, including the GorillaPod Focus and Ballhead X for $ 295. You can also purchase just the CineVise grips for $ 165.

Lowepro introduces Flipside Sport 20L AW weather-resistant backpack

Lowepro has announced the Flipside Sport 20L AW weather-resistant backpack for adventure-oriented photographers. The Flipside 20L can hold two pro-level DSLRs, two lenses, a tripod/monopod and a flashgun. Made of lightweight materials and breathable padding, the bag features expandable pockets for treckking poles and 1.5L bottles. The Flipside is also available in two smaller sizes with Orange/Light Grey and Galaxy Blue/Light Grey color options.

Satechi introduces BT Smart Trigger wireless shutter release for Canon

Accessory maker Satechi has announced the BT Smart Trigger, an iOS-controlled Bluetooth 4.0 shutter release for Canon DSLRs. It features multiple shooting modes including timelapse and long exposures, via the free Smart Trigger app. The trigger has a claimed battery life of up to 10 years and range of 50 feet. It is currently available for an introductory price of $ 44.99. An Android-compatible version will be available from March 2013.

Sony US introduces Cyber-shot WX300, HX300 and TX30 compact cameras

Sony has announced the Cyber-shot DSC-WX300, DSC-HX300 and DSC-TX30 compact cameras in the US market. The HX300 is a 20MP 50x superzoom with a 24-1200mm equiv. lens. Meanwhile the WX300 is an 18MP Wi-Fi compact superzoom with a 25-500mm equiv. lens. The tough, waterproof, card-style TX30 offers a 26-130mm equiv zoom. The WX300 will cost around $ 330, while the HX300 and TX30 will have retail prices of $ 500 and $ 350 respectively.

Sigma introduces Photo Pro 5.5 with Monochrome mode

Sigma has released version 5.5 of its Photo Pro raw processing software, which adds a monochrome processing mode for cameras with the 15x3MP Foveon sensor – i.e. the SD1, SD1 Merrill, DP1 Merrill, DP2 Merrill and DP3 Merrill. It’s also now compatible with Windows 8. The software is available now from Sigma’s website – click through for more details and download links.

Nauticam introduces NA-NEX6 underwater housing for Sony NEX-6

US Underwater housing maker Nauticam has announced the NA-NEX6 for Sony’s NEX-6 interchangeable lens camera. Providing protection up to 100 meters depth, its body is made from aluminum with a scratch-resistant acrylic rear cover. It features a single-lock housing and a patented lens attachment mechanism which allows you to change lenses without removing the camera from the housing (presumably as long as you’re not underwater at the time). The NA-NEX6 will start shipping this month at a retail price of $ 1650.

Giottos introduces ‘YTL’ series tripods with space-saving design

Giottos has announced a range of tripods that use a unique ‘Y’-shaped centre column profile to offer a more compact folded package. The ‘Silk Road YTL series’ replaces the existing MTL range in its entirety, and according to Giottos offers a 30% space saving without any sacifice in stability or weight capacity.  The range includes 12 models offering 3- or 4-section legs, conventional 2-way or tilting centre columns, and weight capacities from 5 to 10 kg. They’ll be on sale from mid-January, with at prices starting from £100 for aluminium, or £220 for carbon fibre models.
