Going solo: DxO introduces 20MP ‘ONE’ connected camera

DxO has unveiled its first image capture device, called simply DxO ONE. Designed to be used in tandem with an iPhone, the ONE features a 1″-type 20.2MP CMOS sensor, integrated lightning connector and 32mm equivalent F1.8 lens. It relies on a connected iPhone or iPad to provide a viewfinder and control interface by way of a free app. Read more

Adobe Creative Cloud update introduces de-haze feature and speedier healing brush

Adobe has announced a number of updates to its Creative Cloud suite, including some feature enhancements and additions to Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC. A previously demonstrated de-haze tool has been added to CC versions of Photoshop and Lightroom, and the effects of Photoshop’s popular healing brush will now be displayed in real time as the tool is used. TTRobotix introduces TTR-SB Seawolf submarine for GoPro cameras

Swedish company TTRobotix has introduced the TTR-SB Seawolf, a remote controlled submarine that includes a forward-facing mount for the GoPro HERO3 and HERO4 cameras. Seawolf allows video footage and still images to be captured underwater in depths up to 8m/26ft while an operator remotely controls the vessel; live streaming is also available. Read more

Metabones introduces Speed Booster XL 0.64x for Panasonic GH4

Metabones has announced a new Speed Booster designed for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4. The Speed Booster XL 0.64x is designed to reduce the camera’s 2x crop factor by 0.64x, meaning that in 4K video mode the GH4’s 2.34x crop factor becomes 1.50x – Super 35 cine format. Read more

Leica introduces its first ever F1.4 aperture 28mm lens for the M system

Leica has announced the forthcoming availability of its fastest ever 28mm lens for the M-system of rangefinder cameras. The Leica Summilux-M 28mm F1.4 ASPH will arrive in stores from June 22nd, and will be priced at £3975/$ 5950. Read more

Ona introduces black version of the Leica M edition Berlin ll bag

US luxury camera bag brand Ona has announced a new black version of its Berlin ll messenger-style bag. Designed especially for the Leica M system, the Berlin was originally a limited edition model created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Leica, but the Berlin ll went on general release beyond Leica stores. Previously only available in the Vintage Bourbon tan finish, the black version of the Berlin has been created, according to Ona, because so many people asked for it. Read more

Ansix introduces LensPacks: Rear lens caps with Velcro for bags

Ansix Engineering has taken to Kickstarter with its LensPacks, a rear lens cap backed with Velcro that can be attached to the inside of a camera bag. It’s designed to speed up lens changes – when a lens swap is necessary, the photographer can twist the current lens into the fixed lens cap, then twist a different lens off of another cap. Read more

Sony introduces touchless shutter app and we go hands-on (off?)

Sony has released a beta version of its Touchless Shutter app, immediately available for download through the PlayMemories app store. The app makes use of the eyepiece sensor as a shutter release mechanism and brings all the advantages of a traditional cable release without needing any extra camera gear. All that is needed is a hand wave near the eyepiece and the shutter will release. Read more

Red introduces ‘Weapon’ camera with 8K sensor option

Red has unveiled its latest camera body and announced its next-generation 8K sensor. The Weapon body will be produced in magnesium alloy or carbon fiber and is available as an upgrade for users with the 6K ‘Dragon’ sensor. Anyone making the upgrade to the Carbon Fiber version will then be able to pay extra to get the forthcoming 8K sensor. Read more
