Their relative rarity makes the discovery of color images from the distant past perennially fascinating. In the final part (for now at least) of a three-part article, Barnaby Britton shows us a selection of images taken from a collection of 75 year-old color slides found in his grandmother’s attic. John Keys brings 19th Century process to 21st Century England

John Keys is a UK-based photographer who captures the streets of England’s north-east with a 19th Century camera using the wet plate collodion process. Although long since abandoned by most professional and enthusiast photographers, collodion has come back into fashion in recent years for its unique look. click through for a look at John’s work and to learn more about how – and why – he chooses to work with a Victorian photographic medium.

Color photography has been around in one form or another for a very long time, but has only been the norm for about forty years. Their relative rarity makes the discovery of older color images perennially fascinating. Raspberry Pi enthusiast sends camera 120,000 feet above England

David Ackerman, a ballooning hobbyist based in England has been working with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to use their products for high-altitude photography. Using a Raspberry Pi computer hooked up to the company’s new camera module, Ackerman created a lightweight ‘eye in the sky’ that he recently sent up to more than 120,000 feet above the United Kingdom.
