Every year the CP+ show in Yokohama Japan is a hive of activity and innovation, as hoards of Japanese and western camera enthusiasts flood the Pacifico Yokohama conference center to get their hands on the latest camera gear. DxO’s latest update to its Optics Pro software, version 10.1, brings compatibility with several new camera models including the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, PowerShot G7 X and GoPro Hero4. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are also included, and this update also makes OpticsPro 10 compatible with star rating systems used by Lightroom and other programs using XMP data. Read more

Nikon Japan has announced a limited edition version of its Df DSLR with gold embellishments where the standard version has bare metal. Produced as a limited edition to mark the first anniversary of the Df’s launch, the gold model will come in two forms – body only, or paired with a gold-ringed AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G. There will be 600 units of the body-only form, and 1000 of the kit with the lens. Read more

In a collaboration with fashion designer Stella McCartney, Canon UK is to offer a run of 1000 EOS 100D kits that come packaged in a tote bag created specifically for the white bodied version of the camera. Called Linda, after the designer’s photographer mother Linda McCartney, the bag adheres to its namesake’s vegetarian ethics by using ‘cruelty-free’ Eco Alter Nappa leather alternative material finished with a natural vegetable oil coating. Ricoh has announced a new ‘Prestige’ version of its Pentax K-3 DSLR. This special edition camera, which ‘commemorates the many awards bestowed upon the K-3’ (including from this website), comes in a special gunmetal gray color. The Prestige edition includes a matching battery grip, two batteries, and an ‘exclusive’ camera strap. If you want your K-3 to stand out from the crowd you’d better hurry, as only 2,000 kits will be sold worldwide.

It’s a crazy time in the camera industry. Here we are in a Photokina year and major announcements are being made every week. One has to wonder what the camera makers are holding back to show at Photokina. Well, Leica a few days ago decided to make a special announcement to celebrate their “100 Years of Leica Photography” with the “Leica M Edition 100”. Sean Reid a regular contributor on Luminous-Landscape gives us a peek at this “Limited Edition 100”. Ricoh Imaging will soon be offering a limited edition Pentax Q7 Premium Kit. The kit includes a black Q7, four lenses (standard prime, standard zoom, tele zoom, wide zoom) plus four hoods, a polarizing filter, and a camera bag that will surely be noticed. Only 1000 kits will be available worldwide, and those in the U.S. can pick up one later this month for $ 1199.95.
