Looking to capture screenshots while browsing the web in Google Chrome, and want to print and share them with friends and coworkers? While many screen capture extensions exist, you may wish to consider Google’s own Screen Capture tool.

Features include visible web tab or freeform region capture, plus the ability on many pages to capture the entire page with the screen capture tool handling horizontal and vertical scrolling (the author tested this on a couple of pages with good results – your mileage may vary with especially large pages)….

Apple releases Final Cut Pro X video editing software

Apple has announced Final Cut Pro X, the latest version of its popular high-end video editing software. Final Cut Pro X features a trackless canvas, that Apple is calling a ‘Magnetic Timeline’ for flexible arranging and editing of clips. It’s also possible to ‘audition’ different combinations of clips to make it easier to choose between multiple takes. The software also features improved tagging (including auto-analysis of clips) to make it easier to manage and locate the clips you want to use. Final Cut Pro X is available from the Mac App Store for $ 299/£179.

I have the single hard drive version, but just picked up the DUET which features spots for two hard drives in a single dock! It hooks up via eSATA for SUPER FAST speed, and also via USB 2.0 for greater compatability with devices that don’t have eSATA.

Screen Capture – Screen Capture Supporting Editing Features, Text Capture

HyperSnap supports a wide variety of screen capture modes, image editing post-capture, and capturing text.

HyperSnap, a screen capture application for Windows, supports a variety of screen capture types including full screen, active window, free hand, and “Entire Page with Scrolling”, allowing you to capture an entire webpage including elements “below the fold” in a web browser such as Firefox.

“TextSnap” allows you to capture a window or region and convert the capture to text that is placed in the Windows Clipboard. A variety of drawing tools are available to edit captured screenshots, such as shapes, freehand draw, stamps, flood fill, and text. Several image effects can be used such as emboss, sharpen or blur, frame, and shear. Other features include uploading screen captures via FTP, sending captures via e-mail, printing all screen captures, and special features to capture screens from games….

Microsoft Outlook 2010 – Display Formatting Marks When Editing Email

Display formatting marks for paragraphs, spaces, tabs, and other characters when editing e-mails and other items in Outlook 2010.

You may have Microsoft Word 2010 configured to show formatting marks when editing documents. Examples of these marks include dots to signify spaces (to help ensure you don’t have too many between words), right arrows to signify tabs (to differentiate between tab characters and just a group of spaces), and pilcrows to signify new paragraphs.

If you are accustomed to seeing these marks you can enable them in Microsoft Outlook 2010 when editing e-mails, even when doing so in plain-text mode:…

Portrait Photography Editing Tips

froknowsphoto.com Everybody needs to do this yet we forget it can be done in Lightroom! I go over my methods for sharpening and enhancing the eyes as well as softening the skin. Negative clarity is the key to softening the skin while lightening the iris (colored part!) helps to enhance the eye. Something I did forget to mention is you can also lighten the sclera (whitish, opaque part of the eye). Do not overdue it!!! Yes you want to make your portraits look great but don’t go overboard and make the image look ‘shopped’. I prefer to have photographs looking real, not images that show off my Lightroom/Photoshop prowess. froknowsphoto.com

You may need to watch this video a few times to really pick up on all of the tricks that Greg is using here. As you can tell there is a huge difference between the unedited RAW file and the fully edited RAW file. Look at how the image pops off the screen and almost looks 3d.
