Fujifilm GF 45-100mm F4 R LM OIS WR will ship in February for $2300

The Fujifilm GF 45-100mm F4 first appeared on the company’s medium format lens roadmap in September 2018 for release in 2020, and it’s now slated to ship in February with a $ 2300 price tag. This weather-sealed zoom covers an equivalent range of 36-79mm and includes image stabilization rated at 5 stops.

The GF 45-100mm is sealed at 11 points to promote dust- and moisture-resistance, and will continue operating in temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F). It weighs 1005g (2.2lb).

You can add it to your GF lens collection in late February for $ 2,299.95.

FUJIFILM INTRODUCES THE FUJINON GF45-100MMF4 R LM OIS WR LENS

Valhalla, New York – January 23, 2020 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the standard zoom “FUJINON Lens GF45-100F4 R LM OIS WR” (hereinafter “GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR”) in late February 2020.

This new lens joins the current family of interchangeable GF Lenses, designed for the GFX large format*1 Camera System and covers some of the most frequently used focal lengths by photographers. The GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR lens has an equivalent focal length range of 36mm and 79mm on a smaller 35mm format system, a maximum aperture of F4 and is a natural fit with two other GF Zoom Lenses–the GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR and the GF100-200mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR. Together, these three lenses provide photographers with a broad range of focal lengths, accommodating a wide range of shooting styles and enabling them to become incredibly versatile and creative.

Combining rugged construction with high-performance optics, GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR is an incredibly versatile lens that is perfect for capturing nature, landscapes, or portraits. Featuring powerful 5-axis image stabilization, one super ED lens element, and a near-silent, high-speed autofocus motor, this is the perfect tool for creating images in challenging and unpredictable situations. Its dust- and weather-resistant construction allows the lens to operate in temperatures down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit/-10 degrees Celsius and its high-resolution performance and wonderfully smooth bokeh will capture the atmosphere of any scene or subject.

The GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR lens consists of 16 elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical elements, one Super ED element and one ED element to effectively control spherical aberration, field curvature and chromatic aberration. This minimizes the negative effects of various forms of aberration, such as luminance shift and color bleeding, to deliver astonishing image sharpness.

Compact and lightweight large format standard zoom
Weighing 2.2lb (1,005g), measuring 5.69in (144.5mm) long, and having a diameter of 3.66in (93mm), the lens is extremely portable and compact despite being a 2.2x zoom for a large format camera system.

Positano, Italy will start charging $1,150 fee for commercial photography, $2,300 for video

The picturesque seaside Italian city of Positano will soon begin charging photographers a substantial €1,000 (~$ 1,150 USD) fee if they plan to shoot photos for commercial purposes. Videographers, meanwhile, will have to pay €2,000 (~$ 2,300 USD) for commercial work, and Positano authorities are also banning drone use in the city, eliminating aerial projects altogether.

Due to its unique position, Positano attracts a large number of photographers, some working for brands or otherwise capturing content for commercial reasons. According to city mayor Michele De Lucia, per the Italian publication Repubblica, Positano isn’t enacting this fee as a way to make money, but instead to deter the photography sets that can disrupt pedestrians and result in “discomforts and bickering.”

It also lends the city an element of control over who gets to shoot there—”not everyone must be able to tie their own brand to Positano,” explains De Lucia.

Anyone taking photos or recording video for non-commercial purposes is exempt from the fee. The city will also allow photographers and videographers to work in certain circumstances without paying the fee, including for documentaries, TV shows, newspapers, and magazines.

The regulation states that anyone planning to photograph or record will need to submit a request at least 30 days ahead of time to get permission. Requests submitted late will require a 50% surcharge. As far as photography goes, the regulation uses the phrase ‘advertising shooting,’ indicating the fee in primarily targeted at brands and advertising agencies.

2,300 Floating Flowers: Interactive Garden Makes Way as You Walk

Responding to the movements of visitors passing through the space, this immersive work of installation art puts you in a private bubble in the midst of dense hanging garden – except this remarkable bubble that moves with you.

The Floating Flower Garden by TeamLab, a Japanese art collective, is on display in Tokyo, having been extended due to popular demand. Suspended from above, the plants are pulled up or dropped down to both envelop visitors but also given them hemispheres of personal space amid the floating foliage.

The idea is to make each guest part of the installation, allowing them to separate from friends and experience it alone or to move in groups and see how the computer system responds in realtime.

Meanwhile, the digital setup is not the only piece that changes things over time: “these flowers are alive and growing with each passing day. Each flower has a partner insect and the scent of the flowers becomes stronger at the time that the insect is most active, as a result the scent of the air in the garden space changes according to the time of day, morning, noon, and evening.”

TeamLab believes technology elevates art, but their work also places into pre-modern knowledge and ancient ideas of spatial awareness originating in Japanese philosophy and religion, including Zen gardens. More from the artists: “When a viewer gets close to this flower-filled space, the flowers close to the viewer rise upwards all at once, creating a hemispherical space with the viewer at its center.”

“In other words, although the whole space is filled with flowers, a hemispherical space is constantly being created with the viewer at its center and the viewer is free to move around wherever they want. If many viewers get close to one another, the dome spaces link up to form one single space. In this interactive floating flower garden viewers are immersed in flowers, and become completely one with the garden itself.”
