3 July, 2013 – Antarctica 2015 by Air – 7 Top Instructors

03 Jul

The best ship, the best tour operator, and seven of the world’s best photographic instructors. The Luminous Landscape today announces two spectacular new Antarctic Photographic Expeditions for January and February 2015.

It just doesn’t get better than this…Art Wolfe, Joe Cornish, Christian Fletcher, Charlie Cramer, Jackie Rankin, Katrin Eiseman, and Kevin Raber. The top instructors from the U.S., the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.

And even better – you’ll fly from the tip of South America straight to your ship and the calm waters of the Antarctic penninsula. Two hours by air instead of the two stomach wrenching days in heavy seas on the Drake Passage that other voyages provide.

2 July, 2013 – Upcoming Announcements

02 Jul

Firstly, a slightly belated Happy Canada Day to everyone up here in the rainy northland, and a Happy 4th of July to all of our America friends.

Our new Advanced Guide to Lightroom 5 video tutorial has been selling extremely well, and has gotten rave reviews. But, the 20% off launch discount ends next Monday, July 8, so if you own or are thinking of owning Lightroom 5, this is the week to buy our tutorial. Nothing will get you up to speed faster. I promise.

We are about to announce two new Antarctic Expeditions for early 2015. These trips have the most remarkable line-up of world-class instructors. The announcement will happen in the next day or two. Watch this page!

Sean Reid has just published in in-depth review of the new Ricoh GR, a pocket-sized APS-C sensor camera. Reid Reviews is a subscription site, but the depth of his reviews is unlike any other.

"Michael’s and Jeff’s tutorial videos are absolutely awesome, not only because of the information transmitted but also because of the casual, conversational style which somehow really makes things stick in your memory."

30 June, 2013 – Leica Vario X Report

30 Jun

Many people are finding the Leica Vario X intriguing. It isn’t the Mini-M that "marketing" teased it would be, as discussed in our earlier report by Sean Reid, but the new diminuative Leica seems to be capturing a lot of people’s attention. Nick Rain’s new report tells us more.

"Michael’s and Jeff’s tutorial videos are absolutely awesome, not only because of the information transmitted but also because of the casual, conversational style which somehow really makes things stick in your memory."

27 June, 2013 – Sony Rx1N Initial Impressions

27 Jun

Last year the Sony Rx1 took the industry by surprise, and photographers were somewhat astonished. A pocket-sized 24MP full frame camera with a superb Zeiss lens. It was a wow, though an expensive wow.

Today Sony has upped the ante a bit more by introducing the Rx1N, the same camera but this time without an AA filter, for that little bit of extra resolution. My first impressions review is now online.

"Michael’s and Jeff’s tutorial videos are absolutely awesome, not only because of the information transmitted but also because of the casual, conversational style which somehow really makes things stick in your memory."
