CORALINE SNEAK PEEK WEEK – Day 5: Coraline in the Higher Dimensions

14 Dec

“Coraline” will be the first stop-motion animated film specifically designed for 3D projection. In this featurette, day 5 of Coraline Sneak Peek Week, the filmmakers discuss the process of shooting in 3D, and about how uniquely terrifying it is. The director, Henry Selick, has made a stop-motion film that later had 3D added (“The Nightmare Before Christmas”), but “Coraline” is shot specifically with a 3D camera. Stop-motion, since it uses real models, puppets and materials, is one of the most eerily real forms of animation there is, so 3D is a natural fit for Coraline. In this featurette, we’ll see just what kind of 3D tricks director Henry Selick and writer Neil Gaiman have up their sleeve! This clip is shown courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes and IGN. “Coraline” ©2008 Focus Features and LAIKA Entertainment House.

A Priest, A Rabbi, and A Minister Walk Into a Bar – A Priest, A Rabbi, and A Minister Walk Into a Bar

If Adam Carolla, Larry Miller, and Lenny Clarke were men of the cloth, even god might get piss drunk. Comics get biblical in the middle of the world’s most god forsaken joke.

Classic Game Room HD – MORTAL KOMBAT vs DC UNIVERSE review 2

03 Dec

Part 2 of 2. Watch in High Definition. Classic Game Room reviews MORTAL KOMBAT vs DC UNIVERSE for the Xbox 360 video game console, MK vs DC is also available for Sony Playstation 3 PS3. This Mortal Kombal vs DC Universe review features gameplay footage from the game in HD. This is an awesome fighting 3D fighting game, no way around it. From Midway, Warner Bros. and DC Comics comes this bizarre yet enjoyable combination of the Mortal Kombat franchise and the DC comic book characters like Superman, Batman, Lex Luther, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Catwoman. The Mortal Kombat characters that you know and love are here for mortal combat including Raiden, Sonya Blade, Jax, Scorpion, Sub Zero and Liu Chang. Which universe will you choose to fight in? That’s the beauty of this game, fight a parallel storyline with one of two opposing sides. The writing in this game is campy, impossible and awesome. Fatality moves for Mortal Kombat and DC characters are in the game, and although the violence has been toned down a bit with DC Heroic Brutality (seriously??), the Fatality moves are fun to watch and nicely rendered in 3D animation. In many ways this is a superior game, Mortal Kombat vs. Soul Calibur IV or Virtua Fighter 5… who wins? CGRHD likes this game better, short and easy to memorize button combos, great gameplay and that awesome mixture of DC and MK characters. One of the better fighting games out there for the 360 and PS3. Classic Game Room HD reviews new games with

Durian Project: Rigify Auto-Rigging System

09 Nov

Blender 3D rigging system in development for the durian open movie.

Directed by MVC’s own Jason Pires, this timely Hip-Hop music video was created weeks prior to the 2006 immigration demonstrations in Los Angeles. The video takes the viewer through an often times controversial journey through the issues involving illegal immigration. With the use of green screen keying and motion graphics, the viewer is visually taken through the letter described in the songs lyrics, as the artist literally dodges stereotypes and crosses symbolic borders. Since its release, the video has been aired nationally on music video channels and national television.
