Unboxing the Sony SLT-A99

Hi everyone! The Sony DSLT-A99 is Sony’s replacement for the A900. Despite me being a bit sick (bear with me in this video), that’s not going to stop me from unboxing Sony’s flagship camera, the A99. I find out what you can expect when you purchase the A99. You can follow me on: Facebook – on.fb.me Twitter – bit.ly Blog – bit.ly

I had to delay posting the review since someone stole my camera with my memory card in it >.< So it'll be up sometime next week.

it is sony’s clear image zoom — introduced on several cybershot, and also A57 onwards…

On top of it, A99 also have commonly available digital zoom, sensor crop.

Is it a digital zoom or an actual sensor crop?

Still waiting for the review! 🙂 As a A900 user, I’m pretty exited about the A99

other than that, u can use x1.4, x2.0 tele zoom OR CLEAR IMAGE ZOOM (handy if u using prime and need that extra zoom in an emergency) up to x2.0 + (not-no-useful-) digital zoom up to x4.0.

I live in Australia but the extra cords are for other countries.

You sure do have a lot of power cords. I’d purchased mine last night and only one power cord came with it. The one for the battery charger for here in the States. I’m assuming that you don’t reside in the States, which would explain the different cords. Is my hunch right?

My apologies. I just checked it and it does. You can choose to shoot in full frame or with a 1.5x crop but it won’t work that way with DT lenses.

Charles Michel Videoacademy on Youtube shows that it can be switched to Auto or Manual for the crop mode (Full Frame and 1.5x Crop)

If you go on the Sony Australia website and visit the a99 page. There will be a support tab to download the manual.

Is there a PDF of the camera manual available for downloading?

There is no user selectable crops but if you choose to use steadyshot the video will crop whereas if you don’t turn it on it won’t be as cropped.

Could you show us if this camera has user selectable sensor crop factors during video record?

Hi. Yes you can change it to those frame rates but you have to change the regions from PAL to NTSC to access 60p and 24p.

Hey can, you confirm that this can do both 60p and 50p and 24p and 25p in 1080p video mode?
