The D5100 has no PC sync connection. The Wein Safe-Sync Hot Shoe to Hot Shoe (SSHSHS) regulates and reduces the flash sync voltage of the flash from up to 400V to less than 6V. This is especially important for current automated SLRs or digital cameras when used with older flashes or lighting systems.

I connected the cable (included Impact 100 EX 100A Kit) to my Canon 5D; the first shot is fired, but the second shot does not fire. If I press the TEST button or unplug the cable from my camera, the second shot wil be fired. Please be adviced !

After I turned Ex 100A, I pressed shutter release camera, EX 100A fired. I presses shutter release 2nd time, ex100A didnot fire. Then, I pressed Test button, ex100a fired. In short, after turn on ex100a, first shot, ex100a fires and press test button, shoot again, ex 100a fire and press test button again for next shots and so on…
Please tell me why I have to press test button for next shots. Thanks,

I just got the ex-100a and tested it with my 5dmkii + pocketwizards. No matter what I tried I can’t get it to sync at 1/200 however it will work at 1/160 but any faster and I get the dark shading at the bottom of the frame from the shutter. It works fine if I use the sync cord at 1/200 but not with the pocketwizards. Anyone have a solution?

Hello Joey, very useful stuff. I bought it and I am using it a lot,…question, I use pocketwizards but my second light doesn’t always fires, so I bought i ‘third’ wireless unit to use on my other light…does it make sense? or can I just find a setting that always allows me to get the second light to fire? (5d mrkii). thanks!

You probably have figured it out by now seeing that I’m responding 10 months later, but just in case… You have to put your flash into Manual mode.

    Hey occlicker,

The Canon 40d’s Ideal sync speed is 1/200. The Camera MUST be set on the manual mode and a Flash meter reading must be made in order to get a proper exposure.

Please call our lighting techs operators with additional questions.

    Thanks,

I have a 40d and I recent got this kit too. Using the photo slave, I could only go as fast as 1/30 shutter speed. Any faster and the flash won’t make it. Using the sync cord, I can shoot as fast as 1/250.

Hi! I’m new to strobes. I just got this kit since it seems to be a good deal. So i used the flash sync but the flash does not show up on the picture. so it’s just dark. What am i doing wrong? The flashes go off but not on the picture. I have D80 so no pc cord input. I was hoping i wouldn’t need it since i want to use it all wirelessly.
