SCROOGE 1970 Version Albert Finney…The BEST Version EVER!.avi

28 Jan

This is the CLASSIC version of Scrooge with Albert Finney which was the BEST Scrooge ever released! Why they don’t show it on TV anymore is completely baffling! Watch in its entirety if you choose to. If you feel like just watching the ending (but I would strongly suggest watching the whole thing), go to about the 1 hour 40 minute mark and watch the finale which is about 10 minutes, especially the part with Scrooge and Tiny Tim & the carousel scene and the choreography sequence that follows. For people who remember this when it was released in 1970, THIS is a timeless classic! This was a musical version. If you haven’t seen these others, Check out the 1951 Alistair Sim version or George C Scott version from 1984. 2 different concepts, but all of these are excellent movies! NOTE: This movie has the hell scene! TV stations would edit it out!!…NOT HERE! 🙂 None of the other versions of this do that, which wasn’t an original adaptation from the book! Very tastefully put together though. Safe for young viewers too! For the newbies born after that who are used to the internet, CGI, bots, scripting, flash in the pan things that are “here today and gone tomorrow” and anything before the word “computer” came to life, watch and see how a REAL movie was made! NO digital effects, NO digital photography. Gifted actors that didn’t end up in jail or on a tabloid magazine for illicit things they have done (versus what you read about today). Watch and see the entire finale and

I love the Sim version as well! I have posted on here that I think from a musical standpoint, Finney did a superb job on this. From a non musical, I like both the Sim and Scott versions. all excellent actors and great portrayals!

Thank you for your kind words! I am so glad this movie brings happiness to you! I sometimes even watch it in summertime sometimes when I just need a booster shot and remember that “I Like Life” if times get depressing or down. I wish you a very Happy New Year and remember…keep the giving spirit all year long and please share with others!

I had no idea this was on YouTube, or I would have watched it a million times this past Christmas, maybe even last Christmas as well. My mom died in 2011 and my sister in 2010. I sure could have used this back then. Thank you so much for posting this. I hope you have a wonderful New Year!

If Charles Dickens could vote for the best portrayal of Scrooge…He’d vote for Albert Finney I’m sure.

I wonder if all the people whose opinion is that this is the best ever scrooge, have seen the 1951 version with Alister Sim ! I know that , like so many things, it is a matter of opinion.. My own is that Alister Sim cannot be bettered.

the song THAN YOU VERY MUCH makes laugh very much lol 🙂
I wish they do this musical on stage in Malta with live orchestra and Mro.Paul Abela being the maestro or the pianist and they perform it Valletta so everybody can see it even does people without private transport.

I had the privilege to take my children to the movies in 1971 to see this wonderful movie on the giant screen. About ten years ago, I bought several vhs copies of this movie and gave it to special friends. It has been my tradition to show this movie at my house to my children and to friends every Christmas season. I just showed it to my computer geek and he told me that was the best movie he had seen. The emotional roller coaster in this movie is fantastic. Thank you for sharing with the world.

I remember watching this at Christmas time as a kid in the 70’s. Its my Favorite version of The Christmas Carol next to the Muppet version and I have lots of them as well as several books ’cause its also my favorite Christmas story too. Note though that the hell scene was not in the original book but is a great addition to the story.
