Nikon D5100 updated samples gallery

11 Apr

Just posted: Updated Nikon D5100 samples gallery. Following publication of our 9-page hands-on preview of the D5100 earlier this week, we’ve taken advantage of a trip to Los Angeles (and some correspondingly nice weather) to expand the samples gallery. We’ve added nine images to the gallery, taken at a range of different settings and we’re currently working hard to turn our preview into a full in-depth review as soon as possible.

Friday Freebie: Spring Bloom

11 Apr

This Weeks Friday Freebie iPad Wallpaper: Spring Bloom
Friday Freebie features an image to liven up your iPad display with images from my travels… all for free.

Spring is in the air and that means wildflowers. While, Mustard pictured above, is not a California wildflower I always associate early mustard blooms with the beginning of the wildflower season.  Over the years I’ve seen some rather amazing varieties of wildflowers from dwarf species in the arctic to well known California species such as the California Poppy.  If you’re curious to see more of my wildflower photos look no further than this link. Thanks for checking in and enjoy this Friday’s Freebie.

Click here to download your free iPad wallpaper. Have a great weekend!

iPhone – iPod Touch – iPod Touch: Switch Safari’s Search Engine: Bing, Google, Yahoo!

11 Apr

Configure Safari on the iPod or iPod Touch to use Bing, Google, or Yahoo!

If you tire of the default search engine in Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you can always directly access the mobile site of a different search engine instead.

However, the search engine accessed via Safari’s search box is easy to change. So easy, in fact, that some search engines may try to change it for you if you don’t read all the onscreen prompts when you manually access one for the first time……

Nikon marks production of 60 millionth Nikkor lens

05 Apr

Nikon is celebrating the production of its 60 millionth Nikkor lens for its SLR cameras. The lens series was introduced in 1959 with the launch of the Nikkor S Auto 5cm f/2, while SWM was first incorporated in the Ai AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8D IF-ED in 1996. This closely follows a similar announcement marking its 55th million lens in September 2010.

It’s a beautiful summer day. An incredible blue sky, the sun is shining. Like Bob Marley sang: "The weather is sweet, yeah, make you wanna move your dancing feet". Celebrate! Dance on a table, play frisbee, make ice cream, eat watermelon, drink an ice-cold ‘Coca-Cola’, run through a sprinkler, walk through the grass barefoot, blow a dandelion, smile at a stranger, twirl until you’re dizzy, catch a firefly, splash in a creek…
Enjoy this most glorious of seasons. Hmmmm!

Ancient Egyptians began bowling in about 5200 B.C. German and British people also enjoyed the game, but it was the Dutch settlers who brought their version of “Dutch pins” to America in the 16th century. They played their games in the middle of Manhattan, which is still sometimes referred to as the “Bowling Green.” Originally a nine-pin game, bowling in New York attracted some shady characters and was eventually outlawed; in order to get around the gambling laws that prohibited it, alley owners simply added another pin. And the rest is history.
Lumbered with the Fred Flintstone image for years, tenpin bowling has recently found a retro-cool status among the young and the fashionable.
If you travel to Atlanta, hometown of ‘Coca-Cola’, you should check out the new Ten Pin Alley in Atlantic Station. The place is owned by cool cats Ashton Kutcher and Wilmer Valderrama, servers wear vintage-inspired bowling shirts and the dj plays very groovy tunes. So ‘pick a cherry’ and ‘hammer the pocket’. Fabulous atmosphere and a guaranteed good time!
For all the bowlin’ lovers out there: here you can see an original ‘Coca-Cola’ poster from the forties plus the Remix version. Enjoy!

How To understand manual photography

05 Apr

Last week I spoke about how you can use FULL AUTO to learn how to shoot manually. This week I wanted to answer a few comments that were made on last weeks post. Some people were saying that its a bad idea to “chimp” or check the back of your camera often. I fully agree that chimping is bad if you are going to shoot a picture and look every time.
